I believe the source material is from the same writer as Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement which I think does have a somewhat similar style of comedy and fun.

    [Overseas] Anime News & Announcements

That was certainly an issue, but for me the problem was the specific requirement. Without the English subtitles the discs would be completely useless to me, yet I'm expected to pre-order with no guarantee that they'll be there in the final product. If they were 100% going to be there, or there...

They're on AL now too. I randomly thought to look maybe two hours ago and they weren't on either store then. I will get Spice & Wolf and probably Days With My Stepsister. I hope Frieren Season 1 Part 2 is announced for November.

What did you RECEIVE today? PHOTOS EDITION!

When I also got those two and many others I also bought that version, even though I really did not want the DVDs and will never do anything with them. But I didn't want Classics or Essentials with the ugly banners on them, so between those two choices the combo packs win. One of the reasons I...

AL sent the email about these on 11 July, and I think they were on the site a bit before that. MVM put them up a few days later if I recall.

Now that Crunchyroll is going back and releasing some of the things they have skipped over the past years, I hope this is one that gets a blu-ray release.

Upcoming UK Anime Blu-ray & DVD Artwork

I'm no fan of steelbooks in general and find them impractical (metal with sharp edges and fragile discs don't mix in my opinion) but I think the art on that one for 86 is really nice.

Strange wording on that given it is already available as a regular release and that reads like it isn't but is coming besides the steelbook version. Unless that is for somewhere other than the UK (or US).

    [Overseas] Anime News & Announcements

ODDTAXI originally aired April - June 2021, so that gives continued hope that more of those shows that got skipped over in that period when Crunchyroll was not having much of their licenses shows released on home video still have a chance of coming. I don't think they've previously gone back to...

    BBFC Passed Anime Updates

I searched a bit and could not find anything, and it's not on @NormanicGrav's list of licensed but not yet scheduled titles here: UK Anime Home Video Schedule In the US, it's licensed by Sentai and streamed on Hidive, so it isn't one they got from Crunchyroll, so I would think it would have to...

Maybe it's because I don't like or watch horror at all, but I've never once thought there was anything dark about the cicadas. I had no idea that was even a thing.

    The General Conversation Area

I never could get used to them, and have just lived with two pair of glasses. I tried both the progressive type and the ones with the visible lines that are just two separate powers. Either type made me nauseous. I suspect it may be harder if you have a stronger prescription as I did so that...

I forgot about that one, only because that wasn't a show I was interested in. Indeed that sucks though.

UK Anime Distributor Crunchyroll/Funimation/Manga UK Discussion Thread

In the case of Overlord, I think steelbooks weren't a big thing at the time. But I imagine the main reason is there's a significant number of people who will buy it twice by them doing this. An example of that is the Ghibli films in the US. GKids released them in regular packaging, then later...

UK Anime Distributor Crunchyroll/Funimation/Manga UK Discussion Thread

People (not me) buy them. As long as it helps keep companies in business making physical media in this era of declining sales I'm ok with it. Hopefully they don't take the place of new releases. My objection is when something is available only in steelbook form. I really dislike steelbooks and...

Recommendations for anime with a gentle feeling

The Gaming News Thread (for news that doesn't need a thread)

That's no doubt one of the reasons the series keeps declining in popularity. Aside from the radical shifts in style, tone, and gameplay from entry to entry, they're spaced so far apart that a significant portion of the potential customer base has no history with the series, and may never play...
