I did mention the extended cut in my previous post (did you read it?) and I talk about both versions in the intro to the podcast...
... and I've also been to the atomic bomb museum in Hiroshima as well (maybe listen to the podcast)!
I mention In This Corner Of The World in the intro of the podcast and sing it's praises, it's (especially the extended cut) a 10/10 film for me and I agree better than Barefoot Gen but it's too new to fit within the scope and remit of the podcast to review.
Hi Everybody,
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing, Lewis and I review two anime written by bombing survivor Keiji Nakazawa; the first Barefoot Gen movie and Summer With Kuro.

Treasure Island - Episodes 23 - 26 [Final]
I have thoroughly enjoyed watching Treasure Island. I knew going into it that it was a generally very well liked show but I was surprised at just how entertaining I found it. This was down to an effective combination of brilliantly written characters...
Treasure Island - Episodes 9 - 22
Treasure Island continues to be a lot of fun and I'm really enjoying it.
I've got a fansub of the TV series that I have sat on for years but having finally seen the OVA I might now give the TV series a go at some point.
Treasure Island - Episodes 2 - 8
As a show written for a much younger demographic than me, I have found this to be a lot of fun and very engaging so far. I put a lot of that down to Osamu Dezaki's visual flair which, similarly to a previous work Aim for the Ace, adds drama and weight to what is...
Heavy Metal L-Gaim - Episodes 48 - 54 [Final]
I have really enjoyed watching L-Gaim again, that run of brilliant episodes up to a very good ending (imho at least), and including the final scene of episode 52, are still as thrilling today as they were when I first saw L-Gaim and it remains in...
Heavy Metal L-Gaim - Episodes 33 - 47
All the set up of various characters and factions pays off with the reappearance of Leccee in Episode 34 and starts an incredible run of episodes that grips me the same today as it did when I first watched L-Gaim over 20 years ago. There is also very...
Heavy Metal L-Gaim - Episodes 21 - 32
L-Gaim continues to get better and better and it's approaching the point in the show where it gets into its mega run to the finish. Episode 25 was sadly the last time my favourite anime opening theme ever, MIO's (MIQ's) 'Time For L-Gaim', was used (it's...
Heavy Meal L-Gaim - Episodes 11 - 20
L-Gaim really starts to get going once the story moves into space and 15 to 20 are a great run of episodes that continue to seed the plot of L-Gaim along with some excellent action scenes and highlights the difference HD makes to the visuals.
Mobile Suit...
Heavy Meal L-Gaim - Episodes 1 - 10
Time to re-watch one of my all time favourites now that a fansub of the Japanese Blu-ray set has been released. This is my 4th watch of L-Gaim and it was nearly 11 years ago that I last watched it. These early episodes do a load of setup and then if I recall...
Moonrise - Episodes 1 - 18 [Final]
I liked the trailer for Moonrise so was keen to see the actual series and I wasn't disappointed. It did lots of things well for me, interesting plot and characters, good action with nice animation and what really ticked the final box for me was that Moonrise...
Final Yamato
A fitting end to the Space Battleship Yamato saga.
It's a very long film (it held the record for the longest animated film for a long time) but uses the time well (much better than previous films did) and I really liked the fact that it had a proper ending with a satisfying...
Rebuild of Evangelion 1.11
Rebuild of Evangelion 2.22
Rebuild of Evangelion 3.33
Rebuild of Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0
I finally managed to carve out a day so that I could marathon the Rebuild films. This was my 3rd watch of the first 3 films and my first re-watch of the final film. I do really like...
Hi Everybody,
Lewis and I get to the final part of out The Good, The Bad and The Ugly series, and it truly is ugly, with some proper scrapping the bottom of the barrel stuff with reviews of Mahou no Rouge Lipstick and OOParts Oman.

Be Forever Yamato
This is the first of the Yamato movies I've not seen before. Unbound by any previous TV limitations of any kind this is certainly the most cinematic of the Yamato films so far and it does have some gorgeously framed scenes.
Pretty much all of the key creative staff that...
Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team - Episodes 8 - 12 [Final]
Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team - Miller's Report
Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team - Battle in Three Dimensions
This is something like the 8th or 9th time I've watched The 08th MS Team and the first time in a decade and...
Brave Raideen - Episodes 47 - 50 [Final]
A good run of episodes to a decent conclusion to the show. Not groundbreaking, even by the mid-70's given the proliferation of super robot anime by this time but there were some interesting ideas throughout and fascinating to finally fully understand...
Brave Raideen - Episodes 31 - 46
The second half of Raideen has taken a long time to move the story on and finish what was first mapped out in the first couple of episodes of the show.
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX - Episode 2
As someone who has seen the first episode of Mobile Suit Gundam...
Brave Raideen - Episodes 17 - 30
Tomino's run ended with episode 25 and there are a lot of story, character and visual ideas that Tomino would further develop in Zambot 3 and Daitarn 3 (the goofy humour was taken too far in Daitarn though imho) and to a lesser extent Mobile Suit Gundam (Char...
