    Beez Entertainment Discussion

Considering that they are Namco Bandai, you may think it is not much of a stretch at all. however the original .hack games were published by Atari who have a raft of problems at this minute (if they are even still afloat). I would love for the games to be released here, myself.

Unless it is unlike other universities, a Masters degree is generally a post-graduate course meaning you start having studied a degree beforehand.

New article: The UK DVD Market - Sorry, how much?!

That is not so. Many volume ones and some volume twos have 5 episodes per disc but the majority have 4 episodes. Fullmetal Alchemist was released at 4 episodes a disc for every volume, which is a mirror of how FUNimation released it in the US.

    The SOS Brigade needs you!

I will definitely double-dip on this one. I already have the full US LE but will get the UK version as well. Love the series (just finished watching it for the umpteenth time :P) and welcome the UK release.

New article: The UK DVD Market - Sorry, how much?!

5 volumes for a 13 episode series? I have Japanese releases of 13 episodes spread over 7 volumes. (1 volume with 1 episode and 6 volumes with 2 episodes.) 4 volumes is one of the popular (ie largely used) US models, releasing 4 episodes on the first volume and 3 episodes on the remaining three...

ADV Films UK halt sale & distribution of select titles

They removed these a short while back due to some issue or another. They are working to resolve the problems and will presumably resume things when they have resolved their problems.

New article: The UK DVD Market - Sorry, how much?!

I have always gravitated that way but I was properly introduced to anime (as an actual medium) via a friend, who originally got into anime via comics and his local comic stockist. This was way back in the late 80s/early 90s.

New article: The UK DVD Market - Sorry, how much?!

Even that costs a lot of money and the returns would still not cover it, I am sure. To the majority of people it would just not make any sense and would be fairly unintelligible. You may try and drum up sales of the odd series but most people would not even consider it beyond the cartoonish...

New article: The UK DVD Market - Sorry, how much?!

The problem with that is the massive cost in getting an advert into a primetime slot. The returns would not have outweighed the cost by a long stretch. You have to consider the differences in the budgets. 300 is a movie with backing into the millions of pounds. On the flipside anime has returns...

New article: The UK DVD Market - Sorry, how much?!

When they used to do that I tended not to buy. I like to have at least the option of watching a title in its original language regardless of the quality of the respective Japanese or English dubs.

Appleseed Ex Machina UK Premiere at Sci-fi London

Just keep watching the Sci-fi London site and sign up for the newsletter. When they finalise the festival they will let everyone know the precise dates and what will be on.

Just as planned, Manga Ent. confirm Death Note anime for UK

It is more so that Gonzo negotiate all of their titles on a region-by-region basis and the series that FUNimation licenced were only licenced for R1. Most but not all of FUNimation's licences include the UK as part of the deal but there are one or two exceptions, most of which are Gonzo titles.

Appleseed Ex Machina UK Premiere at Sci-fi London

A recent newsletter from Sci-fi London has listed that they have confirmed the UK premiere of Appleseed Ex Machina and a showing of Tekkon Kinkreet as part of this year's Anime All Nighter. Other titles have yet to be confirmed and exact dates have yet to be set (although the festival itself is...

ADV Films UK halt sale & distribution of select titles

I wouldn't use Play as a source for release dates. They as often make up release dates as use the official ones. There should be an announcement in due time from Lace as to their revised schedule. Anything else up to that point is pure speculation.

    Manga Entertainment Discussion

One question that has recently come up is with regards to the licence of MAR (if it is indeed a Manga licence). How will Viz's current hiatus of the DVDs affect a potential Manga release? Will you be able to release episodes beyond those that Viz have not yet released or will it (potentially)...

British culture in anime -> ask for your help ^^

One interesting series, released a good while back by BEEZ is Spirit of Wonder, which for large parts is set in Bristol if I rememeber correctly. The style of the story-telling is very reminiscent of Jules Verne or HG Wells.

Death Note on Play.com, as well as Ex Machina, Lupin the 3rd

They have apparently hiatused a few series recently, MAR being one such so it will be interesting to know how far into the series the UK release will go. As far as the manga goes Viz completed the release of that with the 15th volume a couple of months back. I think there is a follow up manga...

    Ciber City Anime gone

I remember a good while back that Neo pulled an advert of theirs due to them selling R1 DVDs without proper permissions or something along those lines.

FUNimation to acquire some Geneon titles?

Unlike ADV, Geneon (like the majority of anime distributors) does not own its own recording studios or specifically employ any actors. They outsource their dubs to a third party company, which is responsible for the employment of the actors. Those actors will not purely work on anime so while...
