The Daily Mail preview wine-tasting manga Kami No Shizuku

No it isn't a joke. There are variations of manga for all walks of life in Japan, from children to grown men and women. You seem to have the common perception that comics are for kids and such but that stereotype does not exist in Japan.

Behold, the sword of power! Excaliborg!?

They have already released the first episode of the Genshiken OVA on volume one of Kujibiki Unbalance TV. As far as I am aware that will be the only way you will get a hold of it. At the very least the OVA will not be released as a standalone until after the 3rd and final volume of Kujibiki...

Behold, the sword of power! Excaliborg!?

Absolutely fantastic series although one I thought would never get licenced. Love this show to bits

Stream ADV's Welcome to the NHK for free over crunchyroll

I agree wholeheartedly with that. Having seen the first episode dubbed I actually thought it was actually very well done. Anime forums are full of a-holes who seem to think it is clever to knock dubs regardless of their quality, probably never having listened to whatever dub they happen to...

    Kamichu!

Kamichu! is one of the most laid-back series I have ever seen. No other series could have gotten away with an entire episode basically does nothing (going to extraordinary lengths to do so :P). Absolutely brilliantly series.

May DVD Release of the month (single's)

One that seems to have slipped its release date is Initial D vol 2. Still, for this week it had to be Shana.

    Beez Entertainment Discussion

Your best chance of getting the Haruhi LE is and always has been by preorder (as early as you could). Andrew has mentioned how few of these are/were available to us with the strong possibility that no more could or would be pressed.

Stream ADV's Welcome to the NHK for free over crunchyroll

The point is providing a legitimate channel for people who might be interested in the series to watch it and sample it. This might inspire some of those to actually buy it.

Honey & Clover licensed and further news from London Expo

It isn't under Bandai Europe's remit to release games. The previous .hack games were released under licence from Atari and they are currently not in such great shape as to be releasing something that could easily fall flat on its face. At least the GU movie will provide some closure to the...

Honey & Clover licensed and further news from London Expo

What makes you think the US will have an art box? Viz very rarely, if ever, do art boxes for their singles releases. The likelihood is that it will be released in singles without an artbox with a collection probably in a digipack at a later date. That seems to be the way Viz does things most of...

    The Bandai Situation.

Given that Bandai Entertainment will be taking the lead I would hazard that it may well mean more dubs since it was Bandai Visual who rarely produced dubs for their titles.

    School Rumble: Term 3 Announced

A season is, in all cases, 12-13 episodes (ie 1/4 of a year). The Americans seem to have a more flexible view on this but in the UK we refer to the whole block of 24-26 episodes as a series, whilst a season is a half of that. To my knowledge the Japanese consider things in the same way with...

    School Rumble: Term 3 Announced

That is, of course, a personal opinion. My own personal opinion is there can't be enough School Rumble. Whether you like it or not is really dependant upon your attachment to the cast of characters, which for me are the big driving force to the franchise. Of course it isn't everyone's cup of tea...

    Fate/Stay night

Unless you have heard something I haven't it has not been licenced by ADV. This is one of many Geneon titles that are no longer available since they ceased distribution. So far as I am aware no UK licensor has picked up Fate for UK release and the probability that it will be licenced is...

Anime and manga seminar in London during May

Yes they would call them manga. Japanese also use the term, "comikkusu", to refer to manga. The terms mean exactly the same thing in Japan. I disagree on the style and content thing. For me manga refers to a comic that was specifically published in Japan for a Japanese market. Manga does not...

There is no FUNimation dub. FUNimation are distributing on Tokyopop's behalf so this refers to all versions of the English dubbed version.

Geneon to return with new distribution method - Summer 2008?

They don't need to announce them. They own the licences unless their parent company sells them on to a third party (and that would ultimately happen through Geneon). This includes anime owned by Dentus (or Geneon Japan), such as (for instance) Shakugan no Shana Second, Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro...

Geneon to return with new distribution method - Summer 2008?

Not so. Geneon are or were looking for a US distributor for titles owned by Geneon Japan, including but not limited to all of those that were in mid-distribution when they decided to back out of the distribution market. They are looking to act very much like Kadokawa USA, as a licence-holder...

    dubbing process

There is usually a step between translation and dubbing, which is adaptation. A direct Japanese-English translation doesn't usually make much sense or flow well for spoken English so there is usually a fair bit of adaptation of the source script to make it work in English. This can go to...

someone explain melancholy of haruhi suzumiya r1 dvd's to me

There are 14 episodes, in fact. As far as what is the deal with broadcast order, part of that comes with the next episode previews, which are quite funny in their own way with Kyon reciting events in TV order with Haruhi talking of episodes in chronological order. The TV previews are...
