Time of Eve Blu-ray on sale worldwide with English subs.

Awesome... except I don't (yet) do Blu-Ray, only DVDs. If there was a DVD release, I'd be all over it like a rash! It's an excellent, slightly off-the-wall slice of life set of OVAs/movie (5 eps of about 15 minutes each and the last being about 30 mins). Well scripted, nicely animated...

What are you listening to Now thread.

Cleared the sleep out of my brain this morning with Maybeshewill's 1st album 'Not For The Want Of Trying' - heavy post-rock, sampling various movie soundtracks. Saw them live a few weeks back (supporting God Is An Astronaut) and they finished their set with a blistering version of that album's...

    Pics, everyone

Re: The Photo Thread Entirely possible, indeed likely! :D Either that or the past 5 or 6 MCM London Expos where I've been helping staff the Steampunk display.

Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata announces new films for Summer 2013

Re: The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread) Very interesting. I've always preferred Takahata's gritter, more realistic movies over Miyazaki's fantastical ones when it comes to the Ghibli oeuvre, but here the roles are sounding like they've swapped, with The Wind Is Rising being...

Why is it we seem to ignore UK anime releases?

Probably 60% of my anime DVD collection is UK/R2, 40% imported R1, mostly from the US (and some of those were bought from official stalls at MCM Expo). But yes, nowadays I tend to look for the US releases first as they: Generally get released sooner. Generally get released! Have more extras...

What are you listening to Now thread.

American Idiot by Green Day. Played little else since seeing the musical in London last Saturday :P Awesome! Saw Mono live in Bristol a fortnight ago, absolutely superb! Big, big noise in a teeny, tiny venue. Halo is my fave track of theirs, still waiting to experience it live.

    Original English-language manga

Off*Beat by Jen Lee Quick is one of the few OEL manga that I really enjoyed. Such a shame Tokyopop never released the 3rd (and final) volume - and that was long before they went under :( Jen is hoping to get vol 3 released at some point in the future, once all the legal and licensing wrangles...

British 'Manga' - Eagle & Battle Comics

Ah yes, Battle. That, and Victor, were my first foray into comics. Johnny Red and Charley's War were my faves, Joe Colquhoun's artwork was something special. I'm now collecting the GN releases of both :D I read Eagle only occasionally. Odd really, as I was into sci-fi back then, but never...

What do think of the bleach manga?

Meh... I bought the first 17 vols before I realised how repetative it is :/ Sold them all off since. The first few vols were interesting, setting the scene and introducing the characters, but after that, I just got bored with it.

11/12/2012: New Manga Releases This Week

Caramel and Ninth Life Love both ordered, just glad they were released before June Publishing put all their hard copy publishing on hiatus for 6 months... D:

    What was your first manga?

I think I bought three vol 1s at the same time: Chobits, Gravitation and Fake. And thus started the obsession that has filled 2 Ikea Billys >.>

    Western comics

I've always enjoyed comics, Battle and Victor, then 2000AD which I've read since issue #1 and collected associated GNs of the better series, plus other GNs by artists/writers I like. And in the past 5 or so years, I've gotten back into western comics big time - Alan Moore and Warren Ellis have...
