NEO reveals new UK anime & manga licenses

Good to see Mai HiME and Eureuka 7 will be hitting our shores sooner rather than later, the latter in particular is a series I've been looking forward to for a while. Tokyopop putting some Gundam on shelves too, that just seals the deal. The ADV shop sounds interesting, I'm already crossing...

The Anime/Manga I Bought Today Was...

Amongst today's post was my long awaited copy of Zeta Gundam Volume # 2, another ten whole episodes of giant robo goodness. ;) Here's a link with a few photographs, I'll try and post some pics of the actual item once it arrives, but the quality of of my digi camera leaves a (hell of a) lot...

The Anime/Manga I Bought Today Was...

Just ordered the fourth volume of the Full Metal Alchemist manga -- admittedly I don't own the first three, but it's packaged with a free Ed figurine and being the stickler for freebies that I am, I just couldn't resist. ;) I've been meaning to see how the manga compares to the anime for review...

08th MS Team: A recommendation by a Mecha Fanboy

Yeah, that fight's absolutely fantastic, I don't think I've seen a mecha one on one -- before or since -- quite as intense, and as you guys already mentioned the fact Shiro rips off his MS' arm to stay in the fight is just the icing on the cake. ;) I love all the designs in 08th MS, but the...

    Most anticipated December UK release?

Before watching it for review purposes I would have said SEED # 7, but seeing as that turned out to be something of a non event I'll have to plump for Full Metal Alchemist instead.

December 2005 UK anime DVD releases

Most definitely, in fact I'd go as far as to suggest they've ruled the roost this entire past year. In terms of giving the fans what they want only the humble MVM have come close -- Cowboy Bebop, Witch Hunter Robin, Wolf's Rain, and Planetes -- that's four bonafide modern anime 'classics' right...

Fortune Magazine produce detailed look at US anime industry

Not a bad read, although it did open on rather a disturbing note - there's a plot for a future horror flick in there somewhere ;)- I was quite shocked to learn how small scale ADV's operation is, sounds rather bohemian, almost like an indie record label. On the subject of the mooted live...

The Anime/Manga I Bought Today Was...

Just ordered the following goodies: R.O.D the TV # 4 Aquarian Age # 3 Paranoia Agent # 3 Zeta Gundam #2 Gantz # 9 Chrono Crusade # 5 That little lot should, hopefully, tide me over in the run up to the Christmas hols.

Boogiepop Collection and live action movie on Play.com

I'll certainly be picking this up come February 20th. It's one of those series I've been meaning to buy for some time, but is inevitably passed over in lieu of some newer/shinier/cheaper complete collection.

    New anime from Mamoru Oshii

I must say this sounds intriguing, I'm a big, big Oshii fan (check out his live action Polish movie Avalon, man's certainly gifted) and I can't wait to see how he handles such an obtuse concept.

    MVM's massive boxset special offer

Considering the price this isn't a bad deal, the DVDs themselves, however, leave a lot to be desired, the packaging in particular is just plain ugly. For first time buyers I can't think of a finer introduction to the wonderful world of anime, but serious collectors would be better off pursuing...

The Anime/Manga I Bought Today Was...

This morning I received my Texhnolyze artbox. I've got a soft spot for the visuals in Texhnolyze and the artwork wrapped around the box was every bit as gorgeous (in a grimy kinda way) as I was expecting, it was also bundled with what Geneon call a 'lenticular onsert', that's a nifty 3D pencil...

    The Final Results

While I would have liked Ichigo to win, at the end of the day the best man went home with the prize... now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to go cry into my Bleach manga. ;)

The Anime/Manga I Bought Today Was...

When I trudged downstairs this morning I found vol.4 of Texhnolyze on the doormat, still no sign of the artbox, though fingers crossed it'll turn up tomorrow. I also ordered MVM's bargain boxset through the Works' website.

    MVM's massive boxset special offer

I decided to grab one while I could, just to get my mitts on the You're Under Arrest OVAs and Ranma 1/2 movie at a knock down price. I question the quality of the actual release, but as long as the DVDs do the business, i.e actually play, I'll be happy.

    What was your first manga?

The first manga I ever bought was a 'flopped' version of the SFII comic adaptation, I was about 9-10 years old at the time. Sadly enough, I think I still have them stuffed in a drawer somewhere, along with a few yellowing issues of DBZ . ;)

    Ikki Tousen

Ermmm I have to warn you that's more or less the working definition of Ikki Tousen, I quite enjoyed the anime, and while the story is of fleeting interest any development is lost in a sea of white lingerie and innuendo, so if that's not your thing I'd steer well clear. If you want a similar...

What manga are you reading now?

After recently falling in love with the Scryed anime I decided to give the manga a look. Over the weekend I received all five vols, I've made my way through 1-3 already, so I think it's safe to say I'm enjoying it so far. Storywise it takes a completely different route to the anime, and it's...

    Review: Devil Lady

Great review, and a great score, I think you've certainly nailed this one. The overreaching cessation did dampen my enjoyment of the series a little more than I would have liked, but as Michelle's mentioned there's so much more to recommend this show - the bloody action, and palpably sinister...

    Favourite manga cover artwork?

My fave covers have to be those wrapped around tokyopop's release of Tokyo Babylon. The manga itself it a very stylish affair and the covers are no different, very bold and colourful but at the same time uncluttered and refreshingly simple. As previously mentioned Bleach's cover art is extremely...
