As NHK's nearly finished and they've already got release dates out for one of the volumes it should be safe. I heard it was mostly manwha they were going to be dropping.
Ok, seriously, how the hell did everyone know who that Zac fellow was? I'd never seen or heard anything about him til I saw his pic on /a/...
I'm pretty much with Paul on this one, could be quite good unless Hollywood decide to mess around with the story (beyond the usual localisation bits).
Yes.
IIRC the OVA is the sort of crappy OVA you sometimes get after a series has finished and a company thinks it can make some more cash by churning out a few more episodes. Doesn't really add anything, but you get to see the characters again.
Like the Uta~Kata OVA, or the FMA movie...
Aw man, this time of year again already huh? And once again I'll be the only one mentioning most of the series on my list *shiku* *shiku* *shiku*
10 points: Haibane Renmei
9 points: FLCL
8 points: Voices of a Distant Star

Y'know, I'm not really sure if this is the government's intention or not, since it's not actually going to protect any children. Or maybe we've just got dumb politicains, who knows...
Sounds like you've got things right to me. But still, it does seem like this could well be a slippery slope...
This.
Hmm.
Word of warning here.
While I think the movie is very good, I don't know how well it'll stand up on it's own, as I saw it directly after the TV series. Certainly the plot and characters don't come off so well, making the movie feel somewhat rushed, but then again 39 episodes into...
Yeah, but it's not exactly unheard of for Japanese to be less than perfectly attentive when it comes to incorporating other cultures or faiths into anime. Eva, anyone?
I would've said that the larger issue here... is that it's stupid. It just ends up making muslims look bad, and they really...
Just what I was thinking :/
I mean, geez, these titles are fairly obscure - even on an anime forum people don't seem to know much about them.
Probably due to them being distinctly mediocre (although I'll make an exception for Shigurui)...
Hmm, don't get your hopes up too much on this one. It's...
Heh, you just reminded me of this.
Although personally I don't have a particular prefernce for either style - I just like being able to see a variety of styles in the stuff I watch.
Opinions lol... if that were really the case, humour would translate perfectly between languages and cultures.
That aside...
List of good manga here. You can click the links for more info about them.
Just a few quick mentions - Monster & 20th Century Boys are pretty good suspence/thrillers...
I hated it, until I realised the series was supposed to be a dumbass comedy anyway.
I find it helps if you think of the plot as being written by 13-year-old script kiddies who've drunk too much coke.
I quite like it.
Yah, I'd think that the reason so many people watch 'em is because they grew up watching them. Most people would probably be aware that there's better-animated stuff or more intellectual stuff, but a) finding new stuff you like takes effort, and b) in Japan, you'd usually have to stay up til...
Same. Sometimes more is less.
For series that have a solid conclusion I always think that making a continuation would just leave it feeling slightly off (e.g. FMA movie, Uta~Kata OVA). So no wishing there was a Bebop or Nadesico continuation, for example.
So, I guess there're 2 kinds of...
Yes, where do I downl- uh, I mean... that's not too surprising really. This was never going to be something where a couple of episodes are made available for legal download and suddenly the fansubs disappear. At the end of the day, there'll always be fans who just won't pay for stuff.
