    Kamichu!

Sounds a bit like Aria to me (which, for the record, is awesome in ways I'd never imagined). I'm into the chilled out iyashikei stuff these days so will keep my eyes open for it.

Another "possible" outside threat to Anime

My (albeit slightly off-topic) view on this might surprise you - I don't have a problem with hentai. For sure, I don't watch the stuff and what little I've had exposure to (namely Legend of the Overfiend) disgusted me. My point is, unlike live-action pornography no *real people* are doing...

Honey & Clover licensed and further news from London Expo

Good news for Honey and Clover (I might actually finish watching it now!), although I'm surprised it's Manga Ent, who made a reputation on sci-fi action shows. Still, props to them for picking this one up. To be honest the only other title on that list that I'm bothered about is Welcome to...

    Macross

The original Macross is the best place to start if you don't mind importing (it's out on R1 but the only version on R2 is the Macross arc of Robotech, which is nearly but not quite the same). 'Do You Remember Love?' is that original series retold in the space of one movie, which I highly...

Qur'an quoting anime incites Islamic religious anger

Another example of a stupid minority giving their faith a bad name. I'd wager 99% of muslims are indeed as peaceful and tolerant as anyone, and are utterly nonplussed over this fuss over nothing. I'm sure I'll offend a lot of people in saying this but organised religion as a whole irritates...

Anime screenings in London at the BFI, Barbican

I've already booked the ticket (and time off work!) for 5cm...I'm looking forward to Shinkai doing the presentation/Q&A too. The rest I've seen already but for those of you who haven't, they're well worth catching on the big screen if you can make it. :)

    Are women funny?

Taking the most obvious example, stand-up comedy, I can think of several really funny commediennes - Victoria Wood and Jo Brand for instance. While 'being funny' isn't affected by gender, I often wonder why there aren't more female stand-up comediennes - most funny females are actresses...

Name me some "so bad it's good" anime.

Ninja Scroll is shockingly cheesy but it's actually quite well animated so I guess it's a good movie from that point of view. Kawajiri's take of Highlander, Search for Vengeance, is much more on the Cheese side...complete with hammed-up screams of "There can be only one!" If it's BAD you're...

    Kaiba (New Series)

That scene confused me too but as of episode #3 it becomes truly excellent. One of the highlights of the new season I think.

The Official "what good deed have you done today"

Lending the equipment AND holding back on my own attempt at drunkenly-performed blues riffs/feedback was a double-good deed of sorts. The noise draws more people in out of curiosity, for which the landlord is grateful! :P

The Official "what good deed have you done today"

I helped set up the open mic night at my local watering hole (carried equipment, lent my guitar amp etc) and stood back while other people knocked out a few tunes and had fun. It was great to watch from the sidelines and I even spared them a performance of my own...

FUNimation get Gunslinger Girl 2, plus much more

The problem with Gunslinger Girl is that, just because the second season isn't as good as the first, it's generally assumed that the second season is bad. After watching the first six episodes I can vouch that it isn't - the story moves up a gear while the character study continues apace. It's...

Why Do All Threads Go Off-Topic?

If you have something to say, say it with a lolcat. I don't know the answer to the question actually but I guess people on this forum have a weird sense of humour and don't take the internet seriously. :P

Anonymous does n-... Oh dear, registration required?

Welcome to the forums! I'm all for lulz but there's a reason why I visit this forum but avoid places like 4chan...as long as you remember that things like sarcasm aren't always obvious in things like forum posts you should be fine. ^_^

    up1 help

As far as I know you just enter the number 'as is' with no spaces. I'd also edit your post if I were you to delete the number (replace it with made up numbers or letters, say) because it's never a good idea to post bank details on a publicly-viewable web page... o_0

Lucky star ova in the works(not confirmed but likely)

I thought LS was great but even though it never had a semblance of a plot to begin with, I thought the ending was a really good one and doesn't really need revisiting. It seems a shame to tack more onto the end (as entertaining as I'm sure the extra stuff will be) when the motivation is so...

    Aria punts into Rightstuf's harbour

Aria seems to me to have a small but fervently loyal fanbase - I'm sure it'll sell (I'll be one of those to pick it up, even if I have to resort to a R1 import) but certainly not enough to warrant a dub. Given the time and money that an English dub will require, it seems counter-productive -...

    Most wanted continuations

There's plenty I want to see more of but I'd say the shows that need more, whether that will happen or not are His and Her Circumstances and Kaiji due to Unfinished Manga Syndrome. I can't get enough of Berserk either.

Del ray picks up zetsubo sensei,Gakuen Prince, Samurai 7,

Given the fact that SZS relies on suicide as a source of some of its comedy, I'm not sure if the TV show would ever be licenced over here. With that in mind, I'm all the more overjoyed that the manga is at least going to be available. Excellent news. :)
