    Pick your poison...

Hmm, I prefer quality over quantity so I'm not into the lagers and alcopops - cider is quite refreshing in summer but by the looks of things we've blinked and missed it! It would have to be a nutritious pint of Guinness (aka a meal in a glass), single malt whiskey (or whisky, depending on how...

    Japan+Alcohol+Law+Me= :(

I didn't know about the 20+ drinking law TBH (but then, America's even more stringent) but this fact makes me a bit worried about my planned visit...it's an understandable precaution though I guess if they've had trouble with Westerners in the past. Given the trouble that British tourists cause...

    Geneon back catalogue

It's funny that you've listed NieA_7 here, because I was halfway through it when Geneon folded. I'm now actually quite worried as to whether I'll be able to finish it... :?

    music and personality

Sure, sure, sorry if it sounded like I thought it was a complete waste of time! I'm not sure how my (occasionally random) taste in music is indicative of my personality - it probably says more about my current lifestyle and experiences rather than my self esteem, introversion, etc. For...

The .... How you find a girlfriend Thread

http://www.scotblood.co.uk/ <- giving blood in Scotland. Oddly, the idea of giving blood in Scotland being different to giving blood in England never occured to me - I thought the NBS was nationwide. Oh well. As for how to get a girlfriend...spend less time on the internet, perhaps? :P

    music and personality

I see where you're coming from here. I reckon my taste in music is probably as eclectic as yours, which makes this sort of thing too much of an over-generalisation to be useful. I've gone through phases over the years but now what I listen to is mostly determined by what mood I'm in at the time.

Revelation Films delay releases until 2009

I'm tempted to pre-order the future volumes of the shows I'm collecting since I'd have saved enough cash by then for when they're out. Maybe that way Revelation will realise the demand is there after all... The thought that Mushishi may be suffering poor sales is as disappointing as it is...

    Google Chrome

I like the minimalist approach, but there are things like AdBlocker Plus and FireFTP that I'd miss if I stopped using FF. As with a lot of new-fangled stuff I'll probably let the experts play for a bit and make the faults public before trying it though!

Revelation Films delay releases until 2009

It's reassuring to know that Rev are wary of taking anything else on until things settle down (apparently they watched and learned from ADV's ill-fated idea of carpet bombing the market with mediocrity) but it's a shame since I'm trying to collect Beck and Mushishi since they've been on my...

Dir en Grey - Glass Skin

Cheers for the link Lupus - I've been eager to hear their latest. I really like it. Not the type of song to grab your attention but it makes me hopeful that their next record is going to impress me as much as their others have. Yeah, Dozing Green is better but this one is a nice change of...

    Carol Vorderman, yay or nay?

just another reason for me to dislike Glenfidditch then. :P

    Anime Calendar 2008

I don't watch or work with raws, but it's an interesting peek at how the series are scheduled for broadcast - I didn't realise that anime is often aired at really antisocial times of the day when only students and hardcore fans would be awake to watch them! I suppose VCRs and TiVo equivalents...

Belated birthday greetings! Hope you had a good one. ^_^

    so... Wisdom tooth Removal

From what I can gather general anaesthetic is only used as a last resort, either because the NHS are tight-fisted or the increased risks to the patient of general on health and safety grounds. I've only had two teeth out (prior to braces as a teenager) and found the injection to be more painful...

Anime Central to be taken off the air!

Get a huge-ass TV for your living room and wait for the DVD/Blu-ray! In all seriousness though, I'm put off watching anything that's below a 15 rating in the cinema because of the hoardes of kids running riot on a sugar rush. Imagine how few can sit still through the third Pirates of the...

    Carol Vorderman, yay or nay?

Fixt. When you meet someone who looks good but has the personality depth of a car park puddle you'd understand. :P

    Food/condiment cravings.

I've discovered shoyu soy sauce to be my secret weapon in the kitchen. A small splash of the stuff turns a bland bowl of noodles and stir-fried vegetables into something much tastier - it really brings the flavour to life.

    Carol Vorderman, yay or nay?

Good looking, intelligent...ludicrously overpaid nonetheless (which is what I thought this thread would be about until I saw Kurogane had posted it!). @Daymon Black: Nigella's quite a looker too now you mention it. I honestly don't see why people claim that the so-called celebs and scrawny...

    Origin: Spirits of the Past

My thoughts are pretty much the same as yours, Warmaster. I remember reviewing my R1 disc of it a while back and my opinion hasn't changed much since. It's worth buying if cheap or renting but aside from the visual prettiness it's not particularly memorable.
