Pretty likely. Minors involved in violent scenes is nothing new. Somewhat different to showing a young girl trying to hang herself and jumping up and down laughing and saying 'me too' in the process. Its probably more that aspect of it than her actually trying to hang herself that got it...
Yes the BBFC are just doing their job BUT without the VRA they would have no job. Trying to claim its all the BBFCs fault is like trying to claim the G20 riots were all the fault of the policeman who nutted Ian Tomlinson.
And someone has to counter your love of the BBFC ;) Life would be...
Again you keep blaming the BBFC as if its them who made the laws in the first place. If you're going to get all bent out of shape at least aim it in the correct direction.
No apparently about it. The wording from the reason for the cut is very similar to the wording thats been in the VRA for some 26 years, and what have the BBFC got to gain by telling a lie? It just makes for a more interesting story to say it was the new laws.
The flipside is, as mentioned...
Its not a release as such so they don't have to worry about any UK laws. They are simply streaming it from outside the UK and it happens that we can view it.
Plus £10 says the version of SW on Crunchy has been tweaked, edited or covered in magic steam like some of their other series.
Kiki's was on today, great way to spend a lazy sunday afternoon. (although I was flicking between that and Ed, Edd and Eddy's Big picture show  )
So long as they keep his son away from the films all should be well. Sounds like a bit of a PR stunt to me. The interview where he first mentioned the Porco sequel had nothing about this.
However he is a pretty old man.
They'd just have picked someone else. It was simple for the Government to use the BBFC as the movie industry had voluntarily been using them for many years prior to the requirement for all films to be classified. Might as well just add videos to the list.
Write to your MP, start a...
Actually its not the BBFC stopping you, its the video recordings act. The BBFC just do as required by the VRA.
Worth having a read of this:

The BBFC does have a use at the moment as their expemption from the 'dangerous cartoons act'...
