I don't by counterfeit goods. I have bought some unlicensed goods but they are not counterfeit (as they are not copies or labeled as being genuine) and trading standards don't treat them as counterfeit. If you look in the other thread you will see I've actually bothered to check up the law...
Its TCM, the don't have a lot of good movies :)
As said before OFCOM get rather uppity about direct sharing of channels like that. The Cartoon network channels are for kiddies and they don't care that its 3am and its just insomniac/stoned adults watching, its still a kiddies channel.
At...
I had an interesting chat with a friend who works as a patent and trade mark lawyer. So long as you're not using a trade mark (ie a logo or specific name) or a registered design (the coke bottle shape being a classic example) or using a direct copy of an image (ie from a DVD, website or the...
They are not the same. If they were then doujin etc.. would be classed as counterfeit and thus illegal.
Counterfeit is a direct copy of an already existing product produced with the intent to defraud.
Unlicensed is when an original design is based upon a copyrighted or registered...
Ah play.com, nuff said :) Optimum must have been a little over optimistic about the rating. (cue rantings about the BBFC ;))
I'm of the opinion that being sub only sets this aside from the other Ghibli films (apart from Fireflies) by emphasising that its not the sort of story you'd usually...
Its not the only film in the collection without a dub. Only Yesterday was also released without an english dub. Certainly far better than the option of no release. Optimum's Ghibli DVDs tend not to have many extras, it is a bit of a shame.
Odd cover image there, it certainly ain't U rated.
Films will make for better transfers to HD than series as they were always shot to film, assuming a good film master exists. Modern anime is mostly created on computer so HD will look a lot better.
It dropped Attack of the clones from a 12 to a PG and the matrix from 18 to 15 and was done at the request of the distributors in both counts Lower rating = more viewers = more money. And the matrix is now uncut and rated 15 and has some additional footage of mouse which was supposedly never...
Brooks hangs himself, however all you see is dangling feet. I'm sure I've seen others but can't remember film names.
But Brooks wasn't yelling 'me too, me too' as if its some game.

12A, go figure!
But its not. There are scenes in films etc. where someone comits suicide and its not been cut.
Brooks in Shawshank, Private Piles in FMJ (now downrated 15), Salieri in Amadeus to name a few. And in the FMJ you see his brains splatter all over the wall.
Someone wake up Hugh, he'll know the answers!
I'd love to know some actual sales figures for anime DVDs. I'm sure there are a few that make the distros cry.
