TAN is not good value for us brits. Last time I did a count we got access to something like 36% of the shows. Compared with CR which is now up to 75%.
130 UK viewable series in CR, 45 on TAN.
I need to automate searching the Funi titles....
VLC seems to do this on some discs, it just throws a spaz and won't play. Multi region on PC DVD drives can be a little iffy.
Try a prog called makemkv.
The silkscreen can be done afterwards. Its the same silkscreen machines for DVDs, CDs and blurays. They could even just silkscreen the BBFC logo and reg number over the existing artwork.
So maybe I need to repeat:
Many many live action DVDs have a language selection at the start and...
Re-read what Manga said.
So even without the BBFC they would not have been allowed to do it.
Plenty of other companies use the same master for multiple countries and can cope with printing the BBFC logo on just the UK discs.
Actually multinationals LOVE free trade, its how they squash all the small companies.
As for region locking, Funi released FMA:B unlocked and then MangaUK reports poor sales of their FMA:B release.
The US and Japan are now in the same region code so we get hugely delayed BD releases as...
I forgot its still 2008 ;)
Germans seem to be a lot less pissy about their anime. They also get DVD releases sooner than us and they pay more for them. Hmm...
Animax has an OFCOM license because its broadcast FROM the UK TO places like Germany, Hungary etc.. It doesn't mean we're getting Animax here. Sony have had the OFCOM license since 2006 or so. The 'updated' date on the OFCOM site is meaningless as it updates every working day.
And oh how they repeat ben10 over and over and over again!!
The only good stuff is late at night when they show the old Dexter's lab, cow and chicken, PPG etc..
AnimeCentral WAS a block. It was a 3 hour late night block on Popgirl but OFCOM rules dictated that it could not be in the 'kiddies' section. So they just moved it for the duration of the block to channel 188.
An awful lot of consumer electronics will run from 100 to 250V as its cheaper and simpler for them to design one power supply for everything. Worth checking the specs before shelling out on something you might not need.
