Interesting premise. I like the twist that the “villainess” is actually just a victim of the game’s plot rather than actually being evil. The frontier setting also feels a bit different from the usual capital focused otome isekai stories.

How was the art and the overall pacing in volume 1? Did it feel rushed or was it enjoyable enough to continue?

I was quite pleased with this volume. The art was detailed and it had a good pacing allowing the characters enough time to deal with their own personal turmoils/thoughts but not too much so that the story would get back on track in a few pages. The biggest downsides for me were the low extent of the volume and the fact that it ends with a cliffhanger and no date for volume 2 yet
