Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway - The Sorcery of Nymph Circe

I've been looking forward to this so had quite a lot of expectation for it. Ultimately it didn't disappoint and I really liked it, although I will admit about halfway through I was starting to think it was getting a bit 'talky' but the the last act was fantastic imho and I loved the way Hathaway and Gigi's stories were told. It's always difficult for the middle film of a trilogy to bridge the other parts and a friend described as being a bit 'over-written' which is a view I agree with and TBH my only real gripe with it is the same as the first film in that too much of it happens in the dark, but I have to say this left me very excited for the final part (whenever it might appear)!

Future War 198X

I have seen Future War 198X a few times but the video quality of previously available fansubs has been a bit rubbish but a fansub group has recently put out a very nice 4k restoration so I had to watch it again. I still think it's a very interesting take on how the Cold War could have gone hot with some plausible scenarios played out through the film, though this time round I think my view has changed slightly and I thought some of the character interactions were actually a bit silly.

Future GPX Cyber Formula - Episodes 1 - 5

I last watched this over 20 years ago but have never seen teh sequel OVAs and I have been sitting on a BD rip of the TV series and OVAs for a while so was ready to re-visit it. Some of it looks amazing in HD and I love that early 90's look and I'm having a great time with it but I have to admit it's a lot more 'childish' than I remembered it being!!

Urusei Yatsura (1981) - Episodes 44 - 51

This run of episodes really shows why the original UY anime series deserves it's eclectic cult status. Now that the series is well past all it's character and scenario setups it can focus on just being free-wheeling and funny, I absolutely love it!!!

The Ghost in the Shell episode 10 Equilibrium, (Complete. Very good overall, though SAC will remain by favourite in terms of GITS anime.) 4/5

My next door neighbor, who is also a big anime fan, came to visit tonight to enjoy our favorite Girls with Guns anime, Noir - but, we didn't watch the actual anime; we instead listened to the entire Noir soundtrack double LP on my vintage turntable and stereo system, which I finally was able to set back up in my living room over the weekend. My stereo equipment had sat forlornly in storage in my basement over the past 7 years or so, to make room for my elderly parents who had to move in with me. Now that they are both gone, I am working on getting my "revived" bachelor pad setup for entertainment once again!

I sat my neighbor down in a recliner centered directly in front of the two large speakers to obtain maximum audio absorption; we both slowly sipped large mugs of hot tea as we intently listened at generous volume to all four sides of the Noir double-album. We both love the Yuki Kajiura soundtrack from the anime, so we quickly became totally enveloped in some wondrous vinyl auditory bliss! 🤗
 
As I got a copy of the recently released Amazing Nurse Nanako bluray Saturday I'm rewatching it for the first time in 13 or 14 years (I have the old Pioneer dvd). It's definitely something of it's time, campy as hell but oddly entertaining.
