Likewise; I'd had a disappointing run in my recent purchases, but I picked up Baccano cheap on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. I can see it being a definite longterm fave.
I'd probably be rewatching it right now if I hadn't lent it to a mate...
I found the first episode pretty frustrating but the narrative jumps were ultimately what pulled me in and made me love it in the end. True, it challenges the viewer at times but it definitely rewards re-viewings.
About the only thing I could think to criticise would be some of the loose...
Looks pretty good, not that I have any idea what you look like but I'll just assume it's a good likeness
Vaguely secret project? Now you do have me intrigued...
I'm in agreement with most of what's being said here; I'm a big fan of the games but it was hardly because of the story - unless you count ironic amusement from the hammy voice acting and so-bad-it's-good dialogue... DMC has always been fundamentally style over substance and while an action game...
Seems like I can put away the cynicism for now, this looks pretty good.
I was thinking something similar; I'm not after ultraviolence or anything but some proper action wouldn't go amiss - going on the trailer I have high hopes :)
Gotham Knight had its moments certainly; I seem to recall Madhouse's episodes weren't bad, but Production I.G was way below their usual standard. Maybe I just had unrealistic expectations for the potential of an anime Batman when the anthology was inevitably going to be a mixed bag from the...
Same here, the Iron Man anime, Gotham Knight and Afro Samurai Resurrection quelled much of my enthusiasm for this sort of US-Japanese collaboration. Still the trailer does look promising on the animation front, I just hope they manage to cook up a decent story to go with it this time.
Sounds like they're honouring the old designs and ideas while giving it enough of an update to stand on it's own merits (I hope). Perhaps my childhood TV memories won't be butchered afterall...
That pretty much covers my feeling on it too. What I saw of Il Teatrino seemed pretty watchable, but I'll never forget the crushing disappointment I had after seeing the first episode. I can't help but wonder how it might have turned out in Madhouse's hands :(
Maybe when/if it turns cheap...
Wow, I knew nothing about this! Not sure what to make of it yet but it sounds more promising than the proposed movie. Either way, the new designs aren't all that bad, though they do look like they've been slightly moe-ified.
Seconded.
Yeah, I hold a similar view on the series. A few of the episodes around the midway point let down the strong start and there were one too many loose ends for my liking (though I'm guessing the films will address those). All the same like you say it makes for refreshing viewing in an endless...
