UK Anime Distributor Crunchyroll/Funimation/Manga UK Discussion Thread

Perhaps, but the fact credit card information has supposedly been compromised suggests that the attacker(s) gained further access to Crunchyroll's system. Your standard IT support ticketing system shouldn't be storing customer payment information. Although, it's Crunchyroll... so who knows, lol.

Either way, I'm not chancing it 😖

Miles (ex CR, ex Anime Ltd) suggests the alleged hack might be fake news

I'm so sick of fake news.

There's a reason we haven't seen any credible outlets cover this yet. If "International Cyber Digest" was credible, they would have said "alleged", because it's unlikely they'd be able to verify the data was both 1) legitimate and 2) specifically from Crunchyroll.

If this is true, then Crunchyroll would be sacrificing huge sums each day they don't communicate it with their customers. The "threat actor" here claims to have reached out to Crunchyroll ten days ago. Considering how massive the fines are for not reporting it, the most likely scenario is that CR did not have reason to believe the threat actor.

I have zero reason to trust this outlet, and so do you. It may turn out real, but there's not a strong reason to think it is at this moment in time.

It's still worth changing passwords once in a while, regardless. Also I've never been so glad that it's easier to buy stuff on the US Crunchyroll Store using Paypal; looks like I haven't used my credit card on their site.

Maybe it's because I recently bought Solo Leveling S1 but I never thought I complain that the S2 limited edition is not exactly the same size as S1.

Big complaint about the crappyroll us release of Violet Evergarden The Movie-horrible! It has the same 640kps DD+ 5.1 audio that was used in the streaming version and the video while based on the home rather than theater version isn't so good. WTF? My home made version which used the video from the jpbd and the english audio from the ukbd with custom .ass subtitles is way better. Makes me wonder how they got away with releasing such a slipshod product? The back of the case states that the audio is 5.1 Dolby TrueHD and it has 3 minutes of extras.....! Right-and the earth is flat.

Honestly, the audio isn't even the biggest crime with that one; the English subtitles are absolute garbage. It was especially disappointing when Anime Limited went to the effort of getting the TV series retranslated (after Netflix had their own issues with subtitles...), and then didn't bother with the movie, which is arguably worse than the Netflix subs for the TV series were since there are so many grammatical errors and missing words.

Whilest Crunchyroll revealed their US home video slate for July last week, they did not yet reveal any upcoming UK releases apart from Shangri-la Frontier S2 next week?
