There's also a lot of pirated anime to watch as well.

wow a lot of people have tooons of stuff to watch xD (as expected) Thanks for sharing!

Contentious question! When picking out a show from your backlog to watch, do you all go first in, first out or just pick the most desirable show first? My friend and I cannot agree on this at all (I am in the latter group).

R

I got that dilemma sometimes and it also applies to gaming. But if I have to choose, I would probably go for... something I havent seen yet. When I still have stuff to watch for the first time, I kinda feel like I'm "wasting time" rewatching something when I still I have stuff to see for the first time. I believe I feel good rewatching something when I have watched everything else. Thats my objective actually. I got an excel file with all my titles and the date that I last saw them. This way I keep track of what I still have to see or when it was the last time I saw something. Its like, Sword of the Stranger is one of my favourite movies and last time I did watch it was on the 1st of February 2012. This was around the time that I've started to keep track of everything. And as a favourite movie, I should have seen this more than once in the last 5 years... Gotta admit I've been waiting for a BD release...

I tend to make a point to only buy new stuff once I've finished watched existing stuff.

I reckon there's a lot to be said for this approach. Plus, I'm big on rewatching.

For the first time in a while, I've actually pretty much caught up. I think I've just got Accel World (bought last February) and Soul Eater NOT that I haven't watched yet.

Because of that, though, I've added Kids on the Slope, Gantz and possibly Moribito to my wish list, in terms of shows that are already out.

Kids on the Slope, Gantz and Moribito -> All good shows.

I just want to get to the point where i'm mostly watching currently streaming shows. Im fine with having a handful of older releases to watch but it is getting harder to find older shows I would like

My back log hss gotten quite big. When picking something to watch from my backlog, I generally narrow it down to a few and then flip a coin if I can't decide.

Actually I got myself thinking that today and I'm precisely the opposite. I'm having a hard time trying to find something new appealing. From last year I've only watch around 10 shows and they were: Erased, 91 Days, Berserk, Drifters, Showa and Genroku Era Lover's Suicide Through Rakugo and The Perfect Insider. Still watching Durarara x2 the third part. Most shows these days arent appealing as stuff from the 90's and 00's. We are all different and that's a good thing. :)

They're all on disk. I got there very quick a long time ago. Have only bought about 5-6 new titles in the last 7-8 years. The rest (if you check their release dates) are pre 2010 and the most are pre 2005 (there being a near even split of pre and post millenium).

When I gained some independence I went nuts. Eventually it caught up and I slowed down.

P.S I'm also very old school in that I prefer physical media to digital. Also, if it means anything. The total number of anime in the collection is over 320 titles.
