What did you RECEIVE today? PHOTOS EDITION!

Got a little game haul today.

RE Village was from The Game Collection and the rest were from CeX today after I went to see Spy x Family.

After finishing R&C 2016 the other day I wanted to pick up the rest of the series so I've made a start now. The Persona 5 steelbook was only a tenner as well which I couldn't pass up.

Persona 5 (Steelbook) (PS4), Resident Evil Village (Gold Edition) (PS5) and Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction + A Crack in Time (PS3)

Delighted that I now have all six of the Bobobo-bo Bo-Bobo manga that were released in English.

For some reason the first book isn't book 1, and also the first book they released in the West starts halfway through the manga in Japan. Who can say why this one didn't win many fans in the Western world, lol. Anyway, despite all of that, I love it.

Here's some random samples of the bonkers humour in it.

As a reminder, Bobobo is on a mission to defeat a gang of thieves who steal people's hair. Bobobo teams up with a character that looks like the sun, and a character made out of jelly. Their special fighting technique is "hajike", which apparently means doing weird things until you confuse the enemy to death. Here's the very first page of the "first" book:

This is the sun (Don Patchi) apparently killing himself so an enemy can more easily be defeated - but then immediately being healed because he drinks milk - and then suddenly putting on a musical about milk, on behalf of the Milk Association.

Here's a scene where an enemy's special move is to throw heavy gems at the enemy. Bobobo and the gang defeat this move by turning into trophy wives, and starting a TV soap opera about their emotional struggles with their husbands.

And finally, here's an enemy who tries to consume the life force of the gang - only to find out that they're quite happy to live inside him and settle down to a suburban life.

Madness. Absolute madness. I love it.

Today I've collected several series and movies from a private seller I've known for several years now (basically from the moment I seriously started collecting anime in late 2020).

A fair warning though, everything I picked up today is from the 00's or older 😉 So long time anime fans, rejoice!

2024 HAUL - APRIL CHAPTER: BATCH #6

Three packages today, probably the final batch for the month unless HMV delivers Dark Water before the end of tomorrow.

Discotek - As Miss Beelzebub Likes It 1.jpg

Today we have a Discotek Media pickup and it's just one series for the time being. As Miss Beelzebub Likes It is a comedy fantasy series that has romance involved, which from first glance reminded me of the Place to Place series. Now even though Discotek Media released it on Blu-ray in May 2022, this is a Crunchyroll title and if you haven't paid much attention as of late, the CR licensed shows under Discotek have started to discontinue.

It doesn't help that this series is currently sold out on Crunchyroll's store so the only option I had was basically pick it up through Amazon. Thankfully it arrived without issue but its a shame it's not in stock as it's going to get harder for folks to own the series if they wanted to.

As Miss Beelzebub Likes It is compatible with the Top-Menu method for Region B players.

Beautiful Bones - 08.jpg
Lupin the Third Part 6 - 08.jpg

Also arrived today are two newly released Anime Limited collector's editions that were supposed to have been released a few weeks ago - Beautiful Bones: Sakurako's Investigation and Lupin the Third Part 6. The former has a really nice book with some interesting artwork and the latter is more Lupin. You can view more photos and specs for both of these on my blog.

Can't wait for these two to get delivered, along with the Golden Time CE. My package has made it across the pond to New York, and it just left Queens this morning. I only live 3 hours from NYC, so I should receive it tomorrow or Thursday. I love Beautiful Bones and Golden Time, I'm so excited to get Collector's Editions for these!

2024 HAUL - APRIL CHAPTER: BATCH #7

Two packages today, now the final batch for the month.

A Place Further Than the Universe - 08.jpg

A Place Further Than the Universe has arrived a day earlier than I had anticipated, and its also a bigger box that expected. Much like To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts, this is also a UK/US release with AB discs, Crunchyroll font for subtitles and an English dub not available for streaming. It's a very good show this one. You can view more photos and specs on my blog.

Dark Water 4K Ultra HD - 05.jpg

Last item of the month is a recent Arrow Video release! Hideo Nakata's 2002 J-Horror film Dark Water (仄暗い水の底から) was re-released for the 4K Ultra HD format not long ago and I wanted to pick it up as I did enjoy the film when I watched it on Blu-ray years back.
