Oh dear, that's a shame. English subs on the Japanese release one can then hope for?
 
I seem to recall that the late Bill Olsen (of Code Red DVD, who released In the Aftermath at one point) said that the issue is that, at some point, the Japanese rightsholders lost/accidentally destroyed the paper trail concerning international rights to Angel's Egg. There's (probably) no problem that can't be solved with money and effort but, at least up until now, it hasn't been one that anyone has been willing to take on with any muscle behind it. Though there have been theatrical screenings in the UK and the US over the past decade or so, so I'm not sure how that works.

I don't see why there would be any barrier to Bandai putting English subtitles on their own release so hopefully they don't pass up that opportunity again.

Two weeks ago Angel's Egg was shown in a small cinema in Amsterdam (with English subtitles). That means a version with English subtitles definitely exists.

This movie would be perfect in 4K. I hope something can be arranged, but I won't keep my hopes up.

France-based sales company Gebeka International was created as a joint venture between Goodfellas (former Wild Bunch International) and animation company Gebeka Films in 2021, with a focus on all types of animation from stop-motion to 3D.
