A fantastic adaption of the haunting and tragic tale based upon the ghost story Kaidan Botan Dōrō(Tales of the Peony Lantern).Adapted to many times to mention only Yotsuya Kaidan beats it in its number of times it has been adapted to either cinema,direct to video or television series,sadly most of the very early adaptions have been lost that includes the 1910 silent version and the six other adaptions made through 1911-1937.In 1972 a pink version of the story was made as part of the Nikkatsu Roman Porno series called Hellish Love directed by Chûsei Sone(best known for directing the first two installments of the six part Angel Guts series),even though it is a pink film it still deals with the subject matter with respect and sensitivity and it is not there just for mere titillation and is still highly recommended even if pink films are not your thing.

It's not quite as good but has some similarities.

Iroduku: The World in Colors Episodes 1-13 COMPLETE (English dubbed) - This show was something truly special, one of those hidden gems that I'm a bit surprised more people don't talk about, the animation and artwork are stunning and the characters and story engage and maintain one's interest, great English dub as well, was absolutely worth the £15 I paid for it on DOTW, and had I know just how good it would be I might have pre-ordered during the Early Bird period :)

Unsure what I will watch next though! :)
