Don't speak to me or my robot child ever again.

I was sold Ergo Proxy on not much more than the strength of the old DVD covers, but I found it quite compelling. I'm not sure there's been a lot else like it before or since, it almost has the feel of an ancient epic to it, a journey both literally and philosophically.

Ergo Proxy is a big favorite of mine as well, love those philosophical anime the best - I think Re-L was the first avatar I used when I joined this forum, even. Snagging a copy of the JP Blu-ray Box after it was OOP was a huge rush for me, too - it's still one of my most prized possessions in my JP import collection, even if it is dub-only while I'm a strict subber.

Ascendance of a Bookworm episode 2
Better than the first episode at least.

Oresuki episode 2
I liked this but this episode was not as good as last weeks. See how it pans out.

Ahiru no Sora episode 2
This is wearing thin for me already. It's like these first two episodes are just him getting bullied but being really good at basketball. The basketball scenes are good and well animated at least, but it looks so predictable.
So I'm guessing all the bullys are gonna get serious about the sport, they'll only just manage to win a major competition, and then he'll get the girl at the end.
Give it another episode but I'm thinking maybe drop this one.

YU-NO (dub) eps 10-12
Another game adaptation not hiding it's origins as an eroge with frankly pointless fanservice (if it wants to be taken completely seriously that is).

Ascendance of a Bookworm ep 2
Cleaning up and winter prep.

ORESUKI ep 2
I wonder what Sumireko is upto?

After School Dice Club ep 2
A new member.

Second episodes done onto some new stuff:
Stars Align ep 1
Seems like it might be a slightly different twist on the sports show.

No Guns Life ep 1
Seems like a cool cyberpunk show. Bit weird seeing a cyborg smoking though.

Assassins Pride ep 1
A bit of a messy first episode. Lots of weird framing and the story is a little puzzling, although I think I have the jist of it.
We'll see.

Also watched the last ever episodes of Elementary. I'm going to miss it. It was an interesting take on Sherlock Holmes with it being set in New York and having a female Watson. Dare I say, it did some stuff better than the BBC effort including a bit of a grittier Holmes played excellently by Sick Boy Johnny Lee Miller.

Assassins Pride episode 1 Another series I’m curious to see progress.

No Guns Life episode 1 This could be interesting, I’m liking the prominence of more noir inspired anime this season.

EverymanHYBRID (Half-acre of ash, The day the world ended, All good things, Introductions)
A really well executed bittersweet ending to the EMH web series. For a series that started as a hobby it's been great to see the EMH crew hone their skills over the years as creators. While not welcoming for the casual viewer, the ARG elements are really well done creating good audience participation and information gathering. While the story does rely on Slenderman and The Rake, it's HABIT who really steals the show as an original monster and one of my absolute favourite horror characters thanks to Evan's powerful performance. Really hoping TribeTwelve follows suit and delivers a fitting ending.

  1. Evil Dead II
  2. Army of Darkness
  3. The Cabin in the Woods
  4. TribeTwelve (Fortunes, DEATHTRAPEXODUS, Crawlspace, Pitfall)

Night of the Living Dead
The film that revolutionized the horror genre. Though tame by modern standards this film was rightly impactful on 60s audiences and remains a strong zombie siege film to this day. Characters were admittedly weak aside from Ben who makes for a good protagonist. The tone is suitably bleak and depressing even to the point where Ben doesn't survive to the end. Night... is both a good look into the history of horror cinema and a great foundation for the zombie genre.

No Guns Life ep1

It was a bit more fanservicey than I expected, but this is making all the right noises. 'What's that you say, he's a chain smoking cyborg detective with a gun for a face wandering around a dystopian cyberpunk future?' Sign me right up...

Night of the Living Dead

I was fortunate enough to see it at the cinema a few years back - much to my delight, it was an old print that still had the long defunct 'X' certificate at the start.
