Code Geass movie 2 - It was good. I was weary on how they would bridge the gap between Season 1 and 2 but I thought they did it ok. Some of the Season 2 elements were glossed over but I guess to be fair not all of it was and Suzaku's interaction with Lelouch in particular for the S2 stuff didn't make much sense as a result. But overall I enjoyed this recap as well.

Shin Godzilla - live action shonen anime courtesy of Manga UK, or rather I guess no one told them they got the wrong Godzilla license. Jabs against Manga aside I've been on a bit of a Godzilla binge lately and this was a very good one although the heavy political hyperbole might make it a hard one to rewatch so quickly as I certainly got my fill from one sitting. I might pick up the blu-ray down the road.

So I lied. I rewatched it before my prime rental ran out.

Dr. Ramune -Mysterious Disease Specialist- episode 8 Up.

Horimiya episode 8 Should the world end.

The Melancholy of Haruhi-Chan Suzumiya & Nyoron! Churuya-San episodes 1-25, 1-13 (Complete. A fun set of shorts, with some being more entertaining and funny than others.) 3/5

The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (Film) (Rewatch)
A great film that essentially feels like an entire season due to its length. Kyon as a character really carries the film well. 4/5

The Slayers: Revolution
episodes 1-10

The Great Pretender S2 (complete)

At times, it's a little too soft-hearted for its own good, which I think undermines the emotional journey of its characters, but this was a fresh and tremendously entertaining series that is easily one of Netflix's strongest anime offerings to date. Would happily watch more, if they favour us with another season.

Z/X Code Reunion
Fun sci fi/magical girl show.

The Children Who Chase Lost Voices
You know this film gets a raw deal. I get that Shinkai was clearly given a remit to make a Miyazaki film and that hangs round its neck like a millstone but it's a much better film than it gets credit for. Its stunning, has some great music (especially the closing theme), can be fun one minute, scary another and poignant as well. The main theme of how to deal with grief is also well realised throughout.

Rumbling Hearts rewatch
Wrote more about this in the Rate Anime thread. But suffice to say it's an incredible piece of tragic storytelling. Deeply sad and painfully possible.

Yeah, I didn't get the steelbook with OST because I couldn't justify it financially given what else I wanted to buy around the time it was released and it having just been Xmas and New Year's (trying to save money also) but it's definitely not all bad, and I will rewatch it eventually :) I actually saw it in the cinema at one of those anime film screening programs All the Anime do (in London this one was) and I didn't mind sitting through it, flawed though it is. I also really like The Place Promised in Our Early Days, which got quite a bit of flack for not being as good as Voices of a Distant Star at the time of it's release IIRC. The only real flaw of that film is the underdeveloped female lead but it's still enchanting and Shinkai clearly got better at that aspect of his films as he went along anyway :)

I got the recent release with them in one pack and quite enjoyed both. I think I'll wait for Children who chase lost voices to hopefully be screened in screenanime and then maybe get the standard edition on sale for financial reasons also. Got to save up for the upcoming monogatari releases after all!

Weathering with You is my favourite Shinkai at the moment, not necessarily because it's his best work but to me feels the most complete. Especially because for me the ost is fantastic and works really well with the movie, kind of like how Kensuke Ushio tailors his music to Yamada's work, going on A Silent Voice (not able to watch my region A blu ray copy of Liz& the Bluebird yet). I love Radwimps music though going on YouTube subtitles I can't say I was impressed with their lyrics in Your Name and felt they'd improved those in Weathering.

Kensuke Ushio also did the OST for Masaaki Yuasa's Ping Pong The Animation IIRC? That was phenomenal work :) Another thing I really like about TPPIOED is that it has an interesting mix of Miyazaki-esque elements with some stuff that seems more influenced by darker 80s (and 90s) OVAs and movies with detailed mechanical and technical animations of things like controls being switched in cockpits and the like, it's got a good balance between the two and that enriches it as a film IMO :) For a while I just kept watching it after I got the Blu-ray cuz it has that kind of high replay value for me, sad that the dub couldn't have been better but hey, the Japanese version is great :)

I'm still working my way though Welcome to the Ballroom part 2, I'm now aiming to watch 4 subbed episodes of anime per day and properly pay attention to them rather than having them on mostly in the background then the rest of the time if I can't commit more time to subbed stuff I'll have dubbed or originally in English things playing, currently my show of choice for that is OK K.O. Let's Be Heroes which I absolutely love for it's wholesome sweetness mixed with goofy humor and visual creativity with lovely bright colours. I love K.O.'s mutually loving and supportive relationship with his mother as well, it's a big part of the emotional core of the show.

I did not know that, will push it up on my watchlist after I imported it last year.

Yeah, one of my favourite anime OSTs, I'd also class Ping Pong as one of my three favourite Yuasa works along with Mind Game and Kaiba, and I'm lucky enough to own the OOP UK CE of Ping Pong from AL :) I really hope you enjoy the show when you watch it, I reckon you're in for a treat :)

Yeah Ping Pong is fantastic. For whatvita worth Night is Short, Walk on Girl is my favourite Yuasa work. Surreal and hilarious and the musical section if the film is glorious!

I think it was this thread where there was some chat about Anthem of the Heart. I got mine delivered yesterday and really just wanted a copy on blu ray but this collector's edition is a bonus - probably one of the nicest I've gotten given the textured almost like fabric feel. Took a picture to try and show this as one can't appreciate it in the marketing shots. I'd recommend for any die hard fans wanting arguably its best CE version. I believe it's still available on alltheanime but in low stock fyi.

Blade Dance of the Elementalers
Episodes 1 -12 (plus the 6x shorts)

Latest title from my pile (I just pick one at random), an interesting concept for a show although usual style of all the girls seemingly fall in love with the male.

I assume when they were making the anime, they were hoping for some more episodes to be given the green light considering there was a few unanswered questions and it finished with them going towards the battle

Attack on Titan: The Final Season (English Dub) Episode 67

The Day I Became a God (English Dub) Episode 12 (Complete)

Warlords of Sigrdrifa (English Dub) Episode 12 (Complete)

Attack on Titan: The Final Season Episode 71

Horimiya Episode 8

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Episode 8

Non Non Biyori Nonstop Episode 8

Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki Season 3 Episode 8

Attack on Titan: The Final Season episode 71 Delicate situation.

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations episode 188 Kawaki.

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation episode 8 Turning ten.

Non Non Biyori Nonstop episode 8 Supportive senpai.

Yatogame-Chan, Kansatsu Nikki 3 episode 8 Prize money.

The Slayers: Revolution episodes 11-13 (Complete. A decent continuation for the franchise several years on though arguably the weakest so far. That said, that the original director and seiyu’s returning for this was a plus, and the new characters worked fairly well also.) 3.5/5

The Slayers: Evolution-R
episodes 14-23
