Makes sense with how wordy it was. Having an enemy you can't physically destroy doesn't really work in a visual medium because as we saw the planning and execution was lots of mental gymnastics and thus not that compelling.@D1tchd1gger In/Spectre is originally a novel. MAL only lists light novels so it's a bit misleading.
I haven't seen In/Spectre but in fairness that is basically the entire structure of Death Note (which is also 90% dialogue) and it's one of the most compelling shows ever made!he planning and execution was lots of mental gymnastics and thus not that compelling.
I was thinking that as I made the point, but the stakes are much higher in Death Note. With certain limitations Kira could almost kill anyone anywhere in the world whereas in In/Spectre the killer ghost was very local to one part of one city and only killed one person in the end.I haven't seen In/Spectre but in fairness that is basically the entire structure of Death Note (which is also 90% dialogue) and it's one of the most compelling shows ever made!
Fair. I guess it goes to show what effect having proper stakes has on a story! Death Note also managed to find a way to present one character monologueing as exciting. The mix of visuals, music and v/o performance all raise the energy level of having one character explain their thoughts to the audience for a significant amount of time.I was thinking that as I made the point, but the stakes are much higher in Death Note. Writing down names and eating potato chips have never been so compelling!Fair. I guess it goes to show what effect having proper stakes has on a story!
