As god creates humanity, they wish good things for them
Poem 28 2025
As I create life
As I make man, and woman, and all between and outside of them
I hope that love will be the native language of all humankind
I pray
In passionate desperation
That what is within their souls
Their hearts and spirits
Will matter more, or at least come to
Than the colour of their skin
The size of their waistlines
The shape of their genitals
Or how many legs or wheels they walk on
May this be a beautiful world
One full of kindness and blessings
May every crying child be held, comforted in softness by those to whom they are most dear
May there be rich and bountiful food for everybody
And always enough water to drink
May they live in peace, war a foreign concept to all of them, regardless of their origins
May they all have reason to smile
And jump for joy
May they see light in the world
Both because it is there
And because they can perceive it
May there be music and dancing
Laughter and stories
Poems and plays
May their hearts be full with all that is good
May they feel the ecstasy of rapture
Yet know that their earthly bodies are deserving of pleasure, and worthy of wholeness
May they know the amazement of great outdoors and the cosiness of warm hearth
Rivers and seas
Skies and trees
Rich warm earth
Golden sunshine
Flowers and all the rest of the things
That make a precious place
One they can call home
