What manga are you reading now?

Flame Haze
Mushishi vol 10 (complete)
A nice collection of stories that feel like they could have happened in an era before industrialisation. I think one thing that made them more interesting was that not all of them had a happy ending, some were more neutral and some even had sad endings.
I still say that the anime is better as each chapter got it's own episode so both cuts and original material were at a minimum meaning everything that comes with being animated (colours, sounds, music, etc.) just enhances the stories without them being diluted or changed.
I gave every part of the anime 9, so I'll give this an 8/10

I Cannot Reach You volumes 3-4 (JP) - I just had to know what happens next! Now that I'm caught up in Japanese I can swap to reading the latest chapters on Pixiv, so less double dipping for me since I still want to own the English releases too...

I Have a Secret (complete)

Durarara!! SH volume 1 (LN) - a nice return to DRR with a new cast. Things have changed but it also feels like we never left this chaotic town.

Love Me, Love Me Not volume 3
Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash volume 17 (LN)
Sweat and Soap volume 4
The Emperor's Lady in Waiting is Wanted as a Bride volume 1

World's End Harem vol 9

Lovesickness
The main Lovesickness story is very good and Ito creates a very foreboding and creepy atmosphere as hes so often great at. Then come some short stories that are a touch more hit and miss but are generally good.

Bakemonogatari part2
Another excellent entry in the franchise. The Kanbaru story was my favourite of the first season of the anime and it was a blast to read it.

World's End Harem Fantasia vol 1-3
In WEH you have a handful of guys with different personalities who behave differently and are treated differently. The big problem with Fantasia is that theres only one guy the story is focussing on and the nature if his power is undeniably rapey. Certainly not trying to say you cant deal with heavy themes but the guy is the hero of the story so it's all in pretty bad context.

Flame Haze
Clover (complete)
A short story from CLAMP about a world where there are children with special powers and are graded 1-4 Leaf-Clovers with 4 being the most powerful. In the first half a military man has to escort a 4 Leaf somewhere (I forget where as I read that part about a week ago). The second part are flashbacks with the military man and his relationship and then his friend/commander and how he met the person living with him who we met in the first half.
Some interesting ideas, but the story was a bit disjointed. The art was very nice, but the layouts were a little weird and it was hard telling who was talking sometimes.
7/10

Flame Haze
Chobits vol 1
Definitely a bit raunchier than I remember the anime being. The art and the layout is more standard manga styling than Clover. Chi's character design is definitely very cute though, although if I didn't know CLAMP were a collective of female mangaka I would have pinned the artist as a randy bloke who liked drawing girls in various different cosplays the amount of different outfits she had!

@D1tchd1gger Yes, CLAMP like their sexy ladies, as Miyuki-chan in Wonderland proves.

I'm not a massive CLAMP fan but I did really enjoy the Chobits anime when I watched it a few months ago, curious about the manga also. I've finished Please Save My Earth and continued a bit with Chibi Vampire - read Volumes 7-8 not too long ago :)

It's only 8 volumes long and they've just released a 20th Anniversary Edition with 4 2-in-1 volumes. I assume the physical ones are hardback, I haven't checked as I got the digital versions from Bookwalker.

They are indeed hardbacks - do check out our recent Chobits reviews of the first two volumes by @darkstorm for more details if you're interested, @RadFemHedonist . :) (Volume 2 is here.)

Thankyou, those reviews made for interesting reading, it sounds like the anime is fairly faithful to the manga? :)
Tbh, it's quite a while now since I last watched the anime - but my recollection is that it was fairly faithful. @darkstorm, would you agree? (I still have a soft spot for Chobits in both versions, I admit, even though it has some issues that don't go away, which maybe arose because of the magazine CLAMP were writing it for at the time?) My favourite CLAMP manga and recommendation, for what it's worth, is still xxxHOLIC - in which I think they get the blend of unique CLAMPness, amazing artwork and unsettling Japanese folklore just right.

The anime and manga tell mostly the same story, but the anime takes a more comedic/light hearted tone (until they start building towards the climax) than the manga does, and the endings are very different. If that helps at all :)

Chobits vol 2
After the mostly light hearted introduction to the world and the characters in the first volume this volume introduces the mystery side of the story. Plus more outfits for Chi-chan!

Bakemonogatari part 3
Great series and very easy to read. It helps that the cast is pretty much entirely likeable despite their flaws. The first person narrative never gets boring and the banter is quick, silly and funny

K-on! Vol 1
Reading on Comixology. Love the anime an insane amount so nice to finally start reading the manga.

Komi Can't Communicate vol 9-12
More gentle fun. I really can't get enough of this series. The way everyone is flawed and earnest yet wildly different is quite the feat to pull off with so many characters.
