The Out of Print Anime Blu-ray & DVD Thread

Its always sad to see DVDs go out of print. I remember getting some Naruto DVDs when I was about 6 and now they are really rare.

I have a strange interest for OOP single volume DVDs.

Hopefully, by making this thread, I'll be able to see peoples region 2 single volume DVDs from companies like Beez, MVM, Revelation and ADV.

Be proud and show off dem rare DVDs!

Text is fine, but pics would be even better! :p

Enjoy discussing old stuff!

What are the oldest you've got?

As for me about a third of my collection will be out of print and that's about 100 or so. To give examples of R2 OOP (note the reference as there will be an explaintion to come), I've got the original Bubblegum Crisis, Dirty Pair Flash, Riding Bean, Gunsmith Cats, Excel Saga,.... Some of those listed are films and others were singles sold as a set.

A number of these OOP releases are still available to import from rightstuf though. This leads me to be a bit of a git and to tac onto this thread the same question about OOP titles in general, namely those you've had to buy of ebay and amazon because of their lack of availability anywhere in the west (basically who here has sailor moon?)

I think the only OOP stuff that I actually own and personally bought are the Beez Cowboy Bebop Remix and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya DVD Sets, both of which I now own the Blurays for.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was actually my first anime purchase, and was my introduction to anime in general, so it has some sort of sentimental value to me. I believe I bought it after seeing so many videos about it on youtube, mainly to see what it was about... then it just sort of went on from there.

I do also have a few random ADV singles though, but those were free at my first London MCM Expo.

Well the only OOP items I have are the following:
- The original release for Shigurui: Death Frenzy on Blu-ray. The original release had two slim BD cases and a packaging similar to Funimation. This version was soon replaced by a standard BD case.
- The original release of High School of the Dead on Blu-ray, now replaced by the Drifters of the Dead edition.
- Beez's Blu-ray release for Sword of the Stranger.
- Funimation's Limited Edition version of High School DxD Season 1.
- The Ultimate Matrix Edition version for The Animatrix on DVD. This version was packaged as a digipack as part of the Ultimate Matrix set. The regular DVD and Blu-ray versions still exist alongside a new version of the packaging (slimcases) to Ultimate edition.
- And soon to be OOP, Aniplex's Limited Edition Volumes of Madoka Magica.

Devil May Cry was also OOP, until recently when Manga announced a re-license on the title and more stock incoming for the future.

Well, i do have a few OOP dvd's
to the best of my knowledge they are
Excel saga volumes 1-6 region 2
Azumanga daioh volumes 1-6 region 2
Noir volumes 1-7 region 2

I have all of Sailor Moon (Stars is the Japanese release, the rest is US). I don't really keep track of things I already have so while I know a lot of my collection is out of print, I'm not sure what would be most interesting. I sometimes upgrade items when a rerelease is better, and I often upgrade my UK PAL discs to US NTSC ones (or BD nowadays) when I can. So the old OOP versions end up being given away to friends or even binned ^^;

Upping the ante, who here has the US release of Galaxy Angel Rune volume 4?

The things I own which I know to be OOP are:

Azumanga Daioh singles + artbox R1

Tatami Galaxy R2
House of 5 Leaves R2
Sound of the Sky R2
Planetes singles

Fullmetal Alchemist singles 1-13 R2

Magic Knight Rayearth OVAs R2

OOP but being rereleased.
Durarara!! parts 1-3 R2 (I think this is being rereleased. Maybe I imagined it...)
Perfect Blue

Don't even get me started on OOP manga...

I must own quite a few out-of-print stuff, considering how I own a fair few Beez and ADV titles (such as Beez's limited edition The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya sets and all of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY and Mobile Suit Gundam 00 singles). I also own all of MVM and Revelation Films' Fullmetal Alchemist singles and NISA's Toradora LEs. Of course, those are just my most notables. I own a lot of other stuff.

I'm not sure what titles I own released by distributors who are still going or are regular editions are out of print or not, but I imagine a fair few of the ones I have are (mainly singles of stuff rereleased as boxsets).

Off the top of my head, probably missing some.

ADV
Colorful
Neon Genesis Evangelion (Platinum edition singles 1-7)
RahXephon (singles 1-7 & movie)
Yugo: The Negotiator
Obviously 101 Films have rereleased RahXephon but the original singles are still OOP regardless. Really hoping 101 also rerelease Cromartie, FMP and Kino.

Beez
Durarara (singles 1-3)
House of Five Leaves
Lucky Star (Anime Legends)
My-HiME (Anime Legends)
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya s1 (Anime Legends) - the most treasured part of my collection. Also probably the most valuable dvd I own. Really wish I had the four singles though.
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 s1 (singles 1-3) - Got these three for a bargain price at £14, still looking for s2. Every time someone sells them on ebay I never have enough money, and when I have the money no one is selling.
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed s1 (Anime Legends)
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed s2 (Anime Legends)
Outlaw Star (Anime Legends)
Planetes (Anime Legends)
Sound of the Sky
Sword of the Stranger (BluRay) - seems weird to think of a BluRay as OOP.
Tatami Galaxy
Witch Hunter Robin (Anime Legends)

Manga UK
Baldr Force EXE
Black Jack Movie
Dead Leaves
Kai Doh Maru
Macross Plus (OVAs and movie double pack)
Millennium Actress
Neon Genesis Evangelion (Death/Rebirth & End of Eva movie)
Noein
Patlabor (movies 1-2 double pack)
Perfect Blue - soon to be sold when the BluRay is released.
RayEarth OVAs
Virus Buster Serge
xxxHOLiC (singles 1-2)
I'm not definite which Manga titles are OOP so I just listed the older ones.

MVM
Blue Gender (singles 1-8 & movie)
Psycho Diver
Same as Manga, not sure what is actually OOP.

Revelation
Gunslinger Girl s1 (singles 1-3)
Rumbling Hearts (singles 1-3)
Was going to buy Beck and Suzuka, but they never finished releasing them so the Americans get my money instead.

Apologies if any of these are wrong, I'm quite behind on what titles have been rescued.

Since I have been buying dvds since around mid 2000 I would imagine I have a fair few OOP anime by now (mostly region 1). I would list them but it would take too long and fill too much space to bother.

Unleashed Season 1 and 2 is back for sale in early January.

Just check the releases and outlaw star is up for rerelease.

Just speculating, but with a sharp exchange and turnaround of liscences and releases at the minute, after what period can it be summised that a title will be OOP. I know individual titles will be different, but I don't see all the release being bought at the same time with a risk of some titles being left to a later date before buying and thus being prone to going OOP prematurely.

Im not 100% on my out of print stuff i could list them if its needed ive got a ton of manga stuff from the 90s same with adv stuff and beez so much of my fav animes are out of print now some are coming back but take Patlabor i own the manga dubed 1s and the bandai 1s i like the manga 1 more no idea why so even if old shows come back i wont get rid of my original dvd/vhs esp if they change dubs even if it is to improve the plot.

Regarding Persona 4 and Code Geass.
Does anyone know whether they have a similar issue in Australia? (Since Madman just import and repackaged the discs)

If not, has it occurred to anyone that Kaze may be concentrating on creating stock for AUS at them moment?
