The gears are finally starting to turn with DreamWorks' upcoming live-action adaptation of Masamune Shirow's cult cyberpunk classic Ghost In The Shell, with acclaimed actress Scarlett Johansson of Marvel Cinematic Universe fame attached to lead the film's cast.

After appearing alongside Johansson in 2014's Lucy, Variety exclusively revealed last week that the Danish actor Pilou Asbæk has joined the project as Section 9 heavy Batou and now, Deadline has perhaps given us a first look at what Section 9 may be having to deal with in this new theatrical venture.

According to the publication, English actor Sam Riley is currently in negotiations to appear in the picture as The Laughing Man, a cyber hacker who appeared prominantly in Production I.G's critically acclaimed anime series Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Details regarding DreamWorks' adaptation have been scarce so far with even the name of Scarlett Johannson's character (Motoko Kusanagi in the original manga) being under wraps; so if Deadline's report is accurate, this could serve as our first proper glimpse into the upcoming Ghost In The Shell movie.

Rupert Sanders (Snow White And The Huntsman) is currently attached to directed a script penned by Jonathan Herman (Straight Outta Compton) for a 31st March 2017 release.
