5pb., Nitroplus, and Kadokawa Pictures have revealed more details for the upcoming anime adaptation of the visual novel Steins;Gate 0.

The anime will begin broadcast in Japan starting in April 2018, during the Spring 2018 anime season. Studio White Fox and the Japanese voice cast return for the new anime. The news was revealed during the Japanese broadcast of the original Steins;Gate anime which was re-aired once again.

Steins;Gate 0 takes place in-between the events near the end of the original game and fills the gap that explains how it reaches the True Ending to the story overall.
Hints of an anime adaptation goes way back to a re-airing of the original Steins;Gate anime from a couple years ago on 2nd December 2015, when one of the episodes was altered completely to lead into the events of Steins;Gate 0. This anime episode was known as 23β: Open the Missing Link (“Kyōkaimenjō no Misshingu Rinku” (境界面上のミッシングリンク)) and was only available for Japanese broadcast and the re-release of the Blu-ray Disc Box in Japan. There is currently no form of legal streaming or home video available to watch this episode in English.
Not long after the anime adaptation was brought up from time to time, but it was only until earlier this year when Kadokawa announced the World Line project that the anime adaptation was officially confirmed to happen. This World Line project also revealed other Steins;Gate related projects including a new visual novel remake that uses anime cutscenes instead of the original artwork (gameplay-wise it’s similar to the School Days visual novel) called Steins;Gate Elite.
The Steins;Gate 0 visual novel was released in Japan for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on 10th December 2015, followed by a Microsoft Windows and Xbox One release later on. Video game publisher PQube have released the visual novel with an English translation for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on 25th November 2016. PQube have also released the original Steins;Gate and Chaos;Child visual novels as well for those interested.
