Some questions about the Elfen Lied Complete Collection

Hikikomori
I did a search but didn't find a recent Elfen Lied thread, so I thought it best to make this one.

I've been looking at the 4 Disc Complete Collection (I'd most likely get it from Play, even though they say it's presented in 4:3, which I'm sure is incorrect - http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/3366180/ ... oduct.html), which appears to be the most cost-effective way of owning the series.

Can anyone tell me if the discs in that collection are the same as if I buy them separately? Play do sell the individual vectors for £7.99 each, but I'd rather get the cheaper complete collection if the only difference is the price.

Is the whole thing uncut (I'm sure it is, but thought I'd ask just to be on the safe side)? And is it definitely widescreen, even though Play say 4:3?

And for anyone who has the DVDs can you tell me please, near the end of episode 13... when Kohta and Lucy are talking and he tells her he loves Nyu, what do the subtitles say? I heard that the subtitle version says "like" but the English dub says "love". If there is this difference, I'm curious as to why. Surely he must love her if he wants her to stay with him after everything she's done.

I know, that ADVs USA collections have most, if not all, of the extras stripped from them, but i'm pretty sure that all the UK collections contain the same disks as the singles. ( I'm not sure if that will change now that there's no UK branch though. )

The extras on the US disks were nothing to fuss about.

Anyway as far as I know the UK collection are the single DVD releases repackaged into one release. That way they don't have to submit it to the BBFC again.

Thanks, peeps.

I did see that the US release had been condensed to three discs, but since the UK release is four, it makes sense that it would be exactly the same as the individual releases. Does anyone know how I can contact ADV to ask them?

And can anyone answer my subtitles question?

The Japanese word is 'suki' and apparently it's somewhat difficult word to translate depending on the situation but is usually translated as 'like' rather than 'love'. I'm not sure if that's totally accurate but I remember it cropping up at some point a while ago so I hope that helps.

As for contacting ADV I wouldn't bother. I tried contacting them a couple of times about their Manga releases but no reply and apparently more people are the same as me. They don't seem to keep very good contact with the potential market for some strage reason. You can still try though. There should be a link on their site somewhere.

The site seems to be messed up at the moment...

The whole series is definately uncut. I was at the London Expo when they did the UK premiere for it, and the ADV guy definately said it was fully uncut.

i believe it's down to the way you say it, i think it was something they mentioned in D.N.Angel where With tried to tell Riku he liked her, but said, love instead because he pronounced it wrong

It's rated a "15". Of course it's uncut.
Then again, Paranoia Agent is rated "18" and yet it's still edited. ;)

Stupid BBFC. I remember the debate about this when it happened. I actually got a reply back from them about it.
Oddly enough my friend bought it when it first came out and the DVD wasn't cut at all! I even compared it with the US DVD I have and the fansub.

Eh, that's very strange. I can only think it was something on MVMs side, as they press the DVDs and would have had to edit out that minute (and a bit) out of their version. Better not let that get out. Haha.

You're sure you looked at the right scene? (It has to be asked).

Played the whole episode back to back. One on the DVD player and one on the PC. They synced up.

which paranoya agent ep and scene you guys are talking about?

edit: Wiki is my friend and told me it was the hang scene... well, it actually made into the uk release, as I've seen that part =)
