Question about FMA manga

Espy

Thousand Master
I recently finished watching FMA, and decided to pick up the manga series, seriously this time. So I ordered volumes 3 and 4 from Amazon. However, when they arrived, I noticed they were very different colours. One was "shiny", while the other was not, and was a much lighter shade of grey on the spine.I first thought "Okay, the shiny ones must be the first print only", but then I noticed both had the updated viz logo on the spine, so obviously isn't the first print. Is there a reason why it isn't shiny, or is this some kind of misprint?

I just read somewhere that only the first three volumes are shiny - which makes sense, but I've never noticed it when looking at further volumes in store. Is this true?

I have one-fourteen of FMA, and one-three of mine are shiny, the rest are not, it seems Viz had just given up on making them "shiny"

I'm pretty sure that manga doesn't get any first print special treatment.
It's labelled as a special limited edition if it's different as per the Dragonball/Z limited edition first volume. That's pretty much it though.
