So we know about Blu-ray, but what about DVDs? This thread will provide a list of every legitimate title with Region 2 compatibility from USA and Australia. None of these are Bootlegged versions nor will there be any. The titles in the list below are for those who would rather have the original speed rate (no 4% speedup), have certain extras or personally would like to get the title when the UK doesn't have one available. These titles are available to purchase from sites that provide international delivery like RightStuf and Amazon USA or are UK based like United Publications and Amazon UK. Not much point in adding Region 2 titles from Japan when only the Blu-ray versions would normally have the possible English Subtitles or Dub, if there are any I'll make them known.

For US Region B Compatible Blu-ray, check out this thread and this for the Bypass titles.

From USA (NTSC Region 1 Zone):

Re: Overseas Region Free Legal DVDs

The old Bandai Visual Wings of Honneamise DVD that was part of the BD/DVD combo is Regions 1/2

Note that MVM's Red Garden and Pumpkin Scissors disc are the Funimation SAVE releases, NTSC with an MVM logo stuck on the front and locked to Region 2. You're getting the exact same discs, but for another region.

Gankutsuou, Geneon single volumes are Region 1
Welcome to the NHK first Funimation release R1
Ouran High School Host Club first release R1
Ah My Goddess Season 2 first Funimation release R1
School Rumble S2 Funimation collection R1
School Rumble OVA Region 1
Taken from the back covers...

Believe it or not, there are actually some legitimate Region All releases out there...

The Mecha Masters Collection, from Central Park Media (I bought it from TRSI) is coded Region All, that's MD Geist, Genocyber, and Cybernetics Guardian.
Roujin Z from CPM is Region All
A.Li.Ce from Artsmagic is Region 0

The Gunslinger Girl Il Teatrino OVA is Region 1 and 2 (only says Region 1 on the box, but worked on my R2 laptop drive)
Niea_7 from Geneon/Pioneer is Region 1 and 4

Hence why I mentioned 'it's possible' because there are indeed legitimate titles out there I just didn't know which ones haha.

But thanks for the additional info on those titles. :thumb:

Re: Overseas Region Free Legal DVDs

FUNImation's original Kiddy Grade DVDs were weird - the first few volumes were 1,2+4, the middle ones were 1+4 and I think they went to Region 1 only at the end. FUNimation had the UK rights and eventually distributed here through Revelation so there's no good reason to take Region 2 off their discs. It was an issue for me as I'd been lending them to a friend who only had an R2 player, who then had to wait for the UK release.

Rightstuf's Boogiepop Phantom discs were All Region - I found out after grabbing the set at random to check whether a new player was multi-region, then being surprised when I tried to play an actual R1 disc later.

They were distributed through MVM not Revelation.

I've got a few of those early DVD volumes, KIddy Grade 2,3, and 7 are marked as Regions 2 and 4 on the case, as indeed are Fruits Basket volumes 1 and 3 (only have check discs for the other volumes, but I'd guess they'd be the same.

You are quite right.
For that matter, I think MVM had more autonomy in their relationship with FUNi than Revelation did.

Shana III is region 1 only. I can't be bothered to find my copy of the movie to test it but I've no doubt that it's region 1 only too.

I was actually referring to the upcoming Region 4 editions.
Not to worry, the first post is currently updating.

I don't get it. Are the titles given (give or take) all playable on R2 dvd's but only purchasable abroad. If so WTF.

In all seriousness though many of the titles given were and are available here anyway.

The Aria the scarlet ammo blu-rays are zone A only since funimation mucked up the second disc (and listing BD zones isn't needed for US releases since there's already a dedicated thread for those).

Isn't Golgo 13 supposed to be region free? Or am I getting confused? Probably.

Depends on which version of Golgo you're referring to, the Sentai Filmworks version is Region 1 only (like all of their releases). Really the only company now that allows some compatibility to UK and Australia on DVD is Funimation.

Didn't Discotek release one of the movies? I'd be curious to see if someone can test that.

The only movies I'm aware of are Queen Bee and The Professional, if there's more I'll have a look when I have time.
