WHERES RICHMOND??????????????
Southwest London. Kew Gardens is not far away. A316 to the A205. Runs right through the town centre. It's also not far from Richmond Tube, and rail stations. I might check this out. They don't say what time, but I guess it's early doors yet.

How very posh. All the Richmond types will be agasp as they realise that anime isn't just limited to those involving flying castles, which occasionally get mentioned on BBC4 art review programmes.

It seemed that those critics didn't know when to stop waxing lyrical about Howl. Watch some Gundam, you buttoned-shirt wearing chaps.

This happens every year zin, it's just that it's not always that optimum have anything like that, for instance, optimum does not take part at London expo, so maybe it's an opportunity to get to know who's behind all the ghibli goodness in UK.

I just got back from seeing this and though it was a good movie, the way it was shown was a complete dogs dinner. Who ever set this up couldn't plan a piss up in a brewery. It was in one of the classrooms and though there were shades blocking the daylight from most of the windows they put the screen directly adjacent to the one window that didn't have a shade, therefore the screen was washed out to start. The disc was obviously anamorphic 16:9, but the projector was set for 4:3 so every thing looked squished and the only ones who could see the subtitles were those lucky enough to sit in front. I wasn't that lucky. Also the screen was positioned so only those that sat right of the screen could see it, those that sat left could only see the side edge of it. I'm only glad I didn't pay for admission else I'd have been asking for my money back. They're showing it again Sunday. I hope they come to their senses and sort it out. The rest of the event was very good with plenty of stalls with merchandice, manga , DVDs, Figures, etc. There is an artists area where one could get a self portrait in manga style, and Sonia Leong proved quite popular. Plenty of cosplayers, many of which were very good. Shame about the movie as that was the only drag about the whole thing.

Amen, Just got thier as it started and was so far off to the side didn't even notice the aspect bugger up.
Beside that the movie was a lot better than i expected. The brief description i'd read was... vague and some what misleading, no one should use the phrase 'average high school student' if nothing weird or fantastical happens. It was a fairly gentle slice of life movie, and while technically a romance, avoids most of the usual cliché's and tropes that have me running for the hills.
