Video game publisher Bandai Namco have announced some cool Gundam news for the fans throughout the day, including a Nintendo Switch release of SD Gundam G Generation Genesis for Japan.

But the biggest news so far is the announcement of Gundam Breaker 4, the latest instalment in the Breaker series since Gundam Breaker 3 back in March 2016. The game will run on Unreal Engine 4 and for the first time it will also be available for North American and European territories.

The Gundam Breaker franchise focuses on players building their Gundam and using it to fight other opponents in the battlefield. This also includes breaking their Gundam parts and using them to further expand on your current Gundam. Details of the new instalment are currently slim but so far Bandai Namco have revealed it will feature a new system called ‘real-time customization battle’ that will allow players to replace their Gunpla parts during battle.

More information will be revealed on 28th January at 8:00am GMT.

Gundam Breaker 3 is still available with English subtitles in the Asian English release for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. You can also get SD Gundam G Generation Genesis, Super Robot Wars V, Super Robot Wars OG: The Moon Dwellers, and a number of other popular anime tie-in titles with English support over on Play Asia. And last but not least, Gundam Versus from the Extreme Vs. series is also available in English worldwide right now!

I love that title. I like the idea too. One of favourite ever games is that Gundam game that was a launch game for the PS3. I loved it, the gameplay was super slow and laborious and sombre, just like the Gundam anime often is. And the best part was all the tinkering around and customisation you could do to your Gundam.

The only downside to the game was that it came out at a juncture in my life when I had just parted with my friends. I was starting to embrace my inner nerd, I think I signed up here, and I took the trip down to Brent Cross to buy the Gundam game. On my way out of Game I had the misfortune of bumping into an old friend, I immediately started sweating, he asked me what I'd bought, I almost started crying. I said, in a most untrustworthy voice "err, I don't know man, some random robot game, looks alright yeah". He looked at the box and simply shook his head and handed it back to me without saying a word. And he walked off.

Sorry, that story sounded more poignant before I typed it out. I'm no Oscar Wilde that's for sure.
