Grr. Not again.

I received my copy of Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun from MVM's Deal of the Week, but disc 2 (the right-hand one) was loose in the case because it hadn't been pressed down properly onto the hub. Thankfully it was unmarked, though.

Are the discs packed mechanically or by hand, does anyone know? Either way, MVM's right-hand discs aren't always being secured properly.

I've gotten away with it most times (no scratches on Is This a Zombie?; only light scratches on Arakawa Under the Bridge), but disc 2 of my copy of Waiting in the Summer is scuffed because of that.

On a positive note, I love the disc artwork for Nozaki-kun. It's inspired.

We're sorry to hear about your luck with the discs - if the discs ever give you a problem with playing feel free to contact us and we will happily send a replacement disc.

In regards to the discs being packed, it's done mechanically. It does happen sometimes [and sometimes the discs are pushed on too hard] but obviously happens with all manufacturing.

I've always found your customer service to be outstanding, so I feel bad for griping about that. I've only ever had one faulty disc form yourselves (disc 1 of Patlabor). I emailed about it, got a reply the same day (as always), and a replacement disc arrived in the post the very next morning. And that was despite the fact that I didn't even discover the fault with the original disc until finally removing the wrapper several months after I received the item.

I also got a next-day replacement of an item which Royal Mail damaged in transit, after another same-day email reply from yourselves.

So your customer care is exemplary. I feel bad for griping now.

It's completely undamaged but came close to falling out onto the floor when I opened the case. It wasn't rattling around inside, so it must have gotten wedged.

No, that was probably me, buddy.

I mean, loose discs do a disservice to MVM, too. I'd hate for them to have to bust open a copy of something just to scavenge a replacement disc. That means one less copy to sell, and I shudder to think how many copies they have to sell just to break even, when you add in BBFC fees and whatnot. £7 per minute of footage? Outrageous.

That's the unhinged spirit of jazz, surely!

Since Kadokawa took majority ownership, Yen Press has talked about expanding it's digital catalogue. And they have seemingly delivered, with Spice & Wolf currently being added digitally. I'm assuming the Reki Kawahara novel series are planned for digital re-release, if possible.

Damn that's frustrating.
One of my Anime Limited collector's editions was sent in one of those corrugated packets as well, but that arrived just fine.

It's the first time for me that anime-on-line shipped something with a weird envelope. Fate UBW 1 & 2, Rage of Bahamut CE and Person 3 Movie 1 CE were all sent in a carboard box with bubblewrap and big plastic air cushioner.

I didn't pay much attention before unwrapping the envelope but I had a similar issue when ordering A Lull in the Sea from Amazon which I actually got a replacement because one corner was really bad. My second copy still has a little dent but nothing too bad. It might've happened at a MVM warehouse before it got shipped to retailers but that's just me guessing.

Still frustrating, though. This is a bit-off topic, I know, but another of my Anime Limited collector's editions arrived with a dented corner. All the bubbles in that corner of the bubble mailer were burst.

I have no idea what Royal Mail do sometimes. A few years ago, a boxset I ordered arrived wrapped in a bag printed with "Our sincere apologies". Inside, the bubble mailer was torn completely in half across the middle. Miraculously, the boxset itself was completely undamaged, but I wasn't very impressed (as you can probably imagine).

See, in my experience, this is classic MVM customer service: outstanding.

On the few occasions I've been unlucky enough to receive a damaged or faulty item, I've emailed Anime-on-line's customer service, received a same-day reply, and then a replacement copy or DVD/BD case or replacement disc or whatever has usually turned up in the post the very next morning. That's just outstanding.

I must also mention that I've sent email to the admin address listed on MVM's website on three occasions; one was thanks for a competition prize, one was thanks for a very swift replacement of an item damaged by Royal Mail, and the other was just my thanks for acquiring the license for a title I'd been keen on. While I was at it, I couldn't help but throw in something like "Is there any chance you could license/re-release such-and-such?" Each time, I was surprised and delighted to receive reply from MVM's top man, Tony Allen.

I mean, where else could you get that? For me, MVM are THE benchmark of customer care. By god do they care. Hats off to them.
