More new anime for the UK from MVM

With MinamiCon now winding down, news that was revealed at the convention is starting to filter through and it's MVM again ("more acquisitions than months in the year") who steal the headlines. According to EyeonAnime, they announced their plans for UK 2005 releases of Tenjou Tenge and Ikki Tousen (hot on the heels of their recent announcements of Paranoia Agent and Samurai Champloo).

There has been no news of any new acquisitions or announcements made at the convention by ADV UK (yet).

It's nice in principal to see them licensing more shows. I can't say I'm interested in either Tenjou Tenge or Ikki Tousen, though. Given that I like plenty of other things that are being released, I suppose I can't complain. Much.

I think they'll both sell pretty well we are the countries known for a hugh porn intake afterall heh heh. Though Tenjou Tenge is a very good anime for the story/fighting and intresting characters aswell haven't watched Ikki Tousen yet.

this is a weird chose of serie from MVM they dont usely go for a seire with alot of fan service .... tho it dont bother me as i like these serie alot to and well be getting them for sure and its nice to see them coming over here so fast.

Tenjo Tenge is a werid one, I watched most of it on fansub but lost interest in it half way through because it starts off pretty damn good, but then just goes to a re-cap story which takes like 5 episodes, nonetheless I may check it out again.

Ikki Tousen is great.... dubbed anyway. Its ionly real saving grace is the excellent dub. Other wise its pretty much average.

Tenjho Tenge, annoced before the US release? Me likey this new direction MVM.

The recap last petter much the whole end half of the serie and the seire dose not have a end it leaves it open for the second serie.

Oh yeah thats a good point, I allways think that the manga is licensed so the anime was aswell when I realized it wasnt.

I wonder If they will release anything else before the US get there grubby mits on it.

MVM sure are going all out though, I could so seethem going bankrupt

There releasing a OVA for it In japan pretty soon called Final Fight or something like that I believe.

MVM seem to be grabbing hold of the majority of both Geneon and Funimations major titles which is certainly a good thing for UK anime. Hopefully they wont go all out and get some of Geneons slightly less popular titles , as I think that might be a bit of an issue in this smaller market.

If MVM continue to have a steady stream of the more key US titles , mixed in occasionally with some niche titles they are certainly going to establish themselves well here.

Frankly whatever ADV has planned I dont see it topping MVM now this year , even with the good titles they havent released in the UK yet , MVM seems to have them beaten already in my eyes. Gantz , Elfen Lied , FMP? : FUMOFFU , are all quality titles ADV could release here, but MVM seem to just have a vast amount more of great titles.

Personally, I'm just hoping that the increased competition will lead to more price drops.

Of course, there is the possibility that this could instead have an adverse effect on the UK anime industry, with each company splitting up the market and not getting enough profit individually to survive.

I guess it depends on how big the UK anime market really is and how much it can support.

Guess we'll find out.

the only new titles im looking forward to from ADV this year is FMP? : FUMOFFU and Kaleido Star i dont think theres any others. I will be buying all the stuff ADV do this year as i try to buy everything that comes out in the uk but im more looking forward to MVM realse and i will be getting all these too.
Beez is doing better this year then ADV.

Id certainly like to see Kaleido Star released here , hope it does . Other than that the only titles ADV have that really interest me is Elfen Lied ( providing it isnt cut to pieces by the BBFC ) , and Kurau : Phantom Melody , which dosent have a US release set yet, so wont be around here for a while.

I dont see why they would cut it up it only seems to be Hentai that the BBFC cut to bits.

I think the BBFC will be given Tenjou Tenge a 15 and i can see them giveing a few of the eps of Ikki Tousen a 18 as some of the are abit sexual but this is only my guess.

I don't think the BBFC could destroy Elfen Lied simply because while it is extremely violent, it's no worse than other, live action titles like gory horror films been released here already, although the cuteness of the characters is slightly misleading considering all the slaughter.

but the slaugher of the cute characters is one of the reasons its so good
