Manga UK Interview: 3 more Licenses to be Announced at EXPO?

The people at The Anime Chronicle Podcast have recently done interview with Jerome Mazandarani from Manga Entertainment UK. You can see a transcript of the interview here. The most interesting piece information revealed is that Manga will have at least 3 big announcements to make at the next London EXPO.

I find it hard to get pumped over UK licensing news when Funimation get practically all the good ****, months in advance. And they release a lot of their stuff in lovely thinpacks; so lovely that I went with Funi's Brotherhood releases.

Similar here but replace FUNi with Sentai/section 23.
Which is even worse as almost none of those make it over. At least with FUNi Manga or MVM are likely to release it.

Awesome, now I really should knuckle down and buy Melancholy already.
Unless anyone's heard mumblings about a release of the new eps from the re-air for the UK?

Sentai, much like ADV of old, license a lot of average/rubbish titles along with the odd quality title. I'm collecting their Hell Girl releases, and plan on buying HotD + Nyan Koi, but there's not a lot else that springs to mind...

Just look at how many highly rated shows Funimation have under their belt, compared to Sentai:

Funimation

Sentai

It's also worth mentioning that Sentai releases are packaged only in basic double-disc cases and have no dubs. The dub point is worth highlighting in particular because nearly all of Funi's dubs are fantastic; my main incentive for buying Funi's releases, thinpacks aside, being listening to anime in quality English.

Most of FUNis top stuff is ADV/Geneon rescues.
Discounting rescues. (it's 1 series off ADV for both of them) I have 2 Geneon series distroed by FUNi.

I have 5 (soon to be 6, Bamboo Blade)by FUNi, all sub license, from UK distro.
I have 3 by Sentai, from Section 23.

Things I still want by either:
FUNi: Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE OADs, Railgun, FMP: TSR (3-4 depending on how they group the OADs)
Sentai: Maria Holic, Hidamari sketch, Taishō Baseball Girls (4 series)

It's similar numbers for both of them. As said most of the FUNi stuff makes it, and none of the Sentai.

Never heard a dub off an anime DVD here. Also FUNi tend to omit special features, and insist on English text op/ed credits. Sentai, and rightstuff (aperently, haven't check recent ones) leave them Japanese text then add English credits after the next ep preview etc., thus not effing up the video. Which has happened on 2 of the FUNi shows I have.

I thought Beez would have licensed The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, as they have Season 1. Could this also mean that Manga UK could license the second season at some point?

To be honest, I'm happy - I really want to see this.

NEWS FLASH! Manga to release #TheDisappearanceOfHaruhi DVD and BR Summer 2011. Yay!

Yey region 2 Endless Eight! (woop.)
Not yet.
"The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya" is the feature film based on the novel of the same name. the Endless Eight arc is in the second season of "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya".

It is curious that Beez didn't pick it up, though I suppose Manga were able to slightly beat them in the money department. I can't wait for it. I haven't seen the film, but a three-hour BD extravaganza sounds absolutely wonderful - its gonna be epic. <33

Beez tend to release the series and Manga tend to release the movies (See Eureka Seven)

I actually called it!

A while back when someone was talking about ∞8 on twitter, Andrew@beezent said something like "personally, I passed on it". Regards Manga's announcent, they are "cool with it".
