Macross: Do You Remember Love? - 25th Anniversary

Just realised that this year is the 25th Anniversary of the 1984 Anime Movie - Macross: Do You Remember Love?. This anime movie has got to be one of the greatest anime movies ever made and is a personal favourite of mine. :)

Does anyone else agree with my love for this movie?

How come this movie has not yet been released on DVD over here yet or in the States? The only way to get this title over here is on VHS which was released by Kiseki Films back in the 1990's. I'm sure there's going to be a DVD and Blu-Ray 25th Anniversary Edition due for release in Japan very soon I hope.

:)

According to the old-timers, it's unlikely to be licensed in the US. A Korean release from yesasia is affordable, but you'll need directvobsub (or akin) to run subtitles with it.

I still have my VHS of this and would certainly pick it up on DVD if the licensing world got it out into the wild making money again. Shame they are too busy squabbling to do so :(

Love this movie, and its a shame about the current robotech/macross mess up although i'm confused since america did get the original series from ADV, and Macross Plus made it through unharmed.

It's annoying to say the least

When Harmony Gold allow it (usually during the intermittent period when they realise that noone gives two shits about their worthless attempts to resurrect Robotech) stuff gets released. They have a say for some bizarre reason, probably get some kind of sub-licensing fee.

The main problem seems to be the fact that they have trademarked the actual word "Macross" just about everwhere outside of Japan, meaning that anyone wanting to use it on a product has to pay them - even for series Harmony Gold otherwise have no rights to.

I don't imagine the Japanese licence holders or indeed, any potential distributors take too kindly to this, so other than the original SDF Macross it's hard to imagine anything will be released outside of Japan ever again. That series is a different matter as it is one of the only ones Harmony Gold actually does hold the distribution rights to it and sub-licenced to ADV.

Long story short, that open letter of yours should be an e-petition kupo. I'd sign it.
