Has anyone here visited a US convention?

So ive got my eye on the Animate convention (Animate! Philadelphia) being held just outside of Philadelphia. And just from the guests announced alone (including one ive waited 6 years to come back to the UK) im seriously considering going to it

But im curious to know if anyone here has been to a US convention. Do they differ in anyway from UK ones for example?
 
Well, as I live in the us I've been to many conventions. I can't say as to how they compare to ones in the uk as I've never been to one there but I'll assume that the basic functions are the same ie, panels, viewing rooms, dealer rooms etc. So it's safe to say if you enjoy the ones in the uk you'll enjoy ones in the us.
