The official Twitter account and website for the anime series Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet have announced that a second season has been given the go ahead for production. It was also announced during a re-run of the show. More details will be announced at a later date.


Gen Urobuchi (best known for Puella Magi Madoka Magica) was one of the writers for the first season.

I'm curious as to how this will work out due to what happened at the end of the first season.

Huh, that's interesting. I didn't actually expect that, but i'm not complaining either. It could work for sure, i just want to see what angle they go for here.

I'm struggling to think of how Gargantia can progress. I know they lingered onthe remains of the mech where the Hideauze made their home on, but then the Alliance can make an appearance any time.

To be honest I thought they'd pretty much wrapped it up, but as has been said it'll be equally interesting to see what potential they might explore..
