I've found through a portuguese anime website this amazing thing. The town where some of the Free! anime places were inspired in.

You can do that with pretty much any KyoAni show. Some of the DVDs even have location hunting (rokehan) footage in the extras.
 
Yeah, they do it with almost everything. I did plan to go check out the locations from Hyouka sometime, but I've never been to Tottori before so this might be an even better idea. The pictures look beautiful.
 
They did this with Kanon as well i remember, KyoAni do this fairly often with their series i believe so it doesn't surprise me, it's still pretty darn cool though.
