Can anyone recommend Bakuman ? I have seen it in forbidden planet but iIdon't want to pick it up unless I know it is good!

I can't speak for the manga, but I really love the anime and I've heard the manga is better.
I've only read the manga and it's absolutely amazing. It has been quite a while since any manga has grabbed me half as much as Bakuman.
It's really odd because it keeps the fast pace, tension and cliffhangers of a weekly battle manga but it's about making manga 0_0
It's also really inciteful because you learn the nitty gritty of how the industry works or at least at Jump.
One of my fav quirks is seeing Ohba's storyboard, Obata's storyboard and the finished product of one of the pages at the end of every chapter. It's amazing what it starts out as and what it turns into. All in all Bakuman just feels like everything is being laid on the table for the readers to see.

I'd say you should at least read the first volume because it really is a very good manga to read. the characters are strong and the plot just grabs you. the info you get on how manga are made also makes it an interesting read as in seeing what it might be like for the authors.
