Anime releases ahead of schedule?

When I was out buying anime yesterday I noticed something that Ive noticed a lot here in Ireland.
Frikin FLCL boxset was there to buy. I mean thats surely not meant to be here yet.
And I remember loads of times seeing DVD volumes that were ahead of the release schedules.Im not complaining.Its great.

Just wondering has anyone else ever noticed this?
 
Yeah thats what I was thinkng.
Anyone know what the American packaging is like.
The packaging I saw was silver, almost kinda cheap looking and not actually that attractive.
 
That doesn't sound like either of the US boxset releases. It could be either an import from another country besides the US or a bootleg.
 
About anime being released early. I saw the first volume of Ergo Proxy in various shops on the 2nd of August and it's not meant to be released until Monday the 6th.
