If you know of any other conventions that will be taking place in the UK in 2007 post them below! Then I can update the list!

I'm making Alcon's conbook, & thus am part of the committee. ^_^ At some point before the event I'll be requesting articles for the book, etc. ^_^

Cheers for the update on this list, I am hoping to attend a few of these cons, and will hopefully see some of you there too

Really hoping to be able to go to Miniami Con but am number 12 on the waiting list, and really hoping people drop out soon

OK - this may sound like a really dumb question - but what actually happens at these conventions? Do people just cosplay and watch anime? :)

This will be my first ever con, but from what I gather, they watch anime, cosplay, play video games, talk about stuff, shop (I am looking forward to this bit :D ), drink in the bar (oh and this bit too should be good),

Speaking as a convention organiser this is basically the sort of thing that happens [Varys from con to con],
- Computer games
- Card Games
- Games of other kinds
- Some focus on Japanese culture
- Panels [I.e., group discussions on subjects]
- New anime license announcements
- Guest signings & talks
- The dealers hall with TONS of merchandise
- Cosplay galore including a masquerade to show them off
- Bar. Bar! BAR!
- Watching Anime, sometimes premiers and exclusives
- An artists area to draw and watch other artists
- Making tons of new friends

Cheers for the replies guys!

I'm looking at going to FuyuCon in Nottingham later this year. Quite like the idea of bar + shop + video games. Sounds like fun! :)

Different conventions have different policies; you will have to check each of them separately. For example at Tomo anyone 13 or over can come, as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

One month til my first Con and Cosplay, I am shaking with anticipation, can't wait to try everything, especially the Gundam speed building competition

Why is everywhere so far away from me :(

I suffer the same problem Minami is the closest to me at about 60mile and then it'd be the london con's which are about a 100 miles away.

Luckily I have mates living all over the country so if there is a Con on odds are I have a someone near buy who will let me crash on there sofa

You should count yourself lucky mate. Until last year anyone in the UK who wanted to go to a con had to go to central England and for those of us over here in Ireland it was not fun.
