Blimey! Get Backers is being released quickly! It's only up to volume 2 on region 1 DVD, I'll probably stick to completing it that way, but I must admit I will definitely being going for Gad Guard.
It's great to see so many titles being released in the UK :D

when does adv plan on releasing new fist of the north star on dvd in the uk and the new 'gantz'?they dont seem to be giving us uk fans anything.

New Fist of the North Star is apparently being planned for April.

I would love to see GANTZ over here too but it has yet to even be released in the US yet. It's the subject of some controversy right now because ADV are planning to release it with only 2 episodes per disc.

ADV UK gives us more than any other UK distributor, but I suppose it depends if you actually like what they are putting out or not!

I'm probably gonna import this one, but I'll wait and see if Madman are doing a better release before I go for the US one. Probably.

I'm a sucker for artboxes, though - if the GantZ one is any good, I can see myself giving in.

I don't take much notice of US releases, but I've been following the Gantz news with interest and apparently the boxset will be 'chipboard' and the first volume contains an interview with the proper (Japanese) director. That is one thing missing from a lot of anime DVD releases; I would love to see more interviews with the original (Japanese) staff. We rarely get to see the creative genius' behind our favourite anime.

With regards to Gantz, I think ADV have picked a good cash cow. Violence and sex sells and this series is incredibly brutal (yet fun). It's unlike anything out there, with a protagonist very similiar to Shinji Ikari (from NGE); unlikable but above all, realistic. It's the type of show most traditional anime fans hate- violent, simple, blunt and filled with painfully familiar characters.

Looks like the people at Madman are clever buisnessmen. It will be funny if they have managed to nab the special features too.

I wonder if this is a good sign for a prospective UK release? MVM heavily use Madman and apparently ADV UK have dealings with them now, too? I hope they do, I would happily trade the rubbish looking Elfen Lied for GantZ.
