Really, with the UK market thriving like never before and US imports readily available, I don't see the need for fansubs. Personally I'd download a fansub if and only if I was 100% sure it wasn't going to be released in English, for reasons already stated here.
Street Fighter II is far and away the better of the two. They both feature simplistic stories and threadbare characters but the excellent fight scenes in SFII are amongst the best anime has to offer. They really do make Alpha look ordinary by comparison.

I didn't say it was surprising, I said their nominations were based on popularity rather than critical acclaim. And Laputa has been shown on UK TV, which would put it on an equal footing with the likes of Huckleberry Hound :P
The nominations were clearly based around sales figures more than anything else - how else you explain Princess Mononoke's inclusion over the likes of Laputa or My Neighbour Totoro? That's why Urotsukidoji is in there.
But really, it's difficult to complain when anime is getting such good...
The RT article is treasure trove of interesting facts...for instance, did you know that Akira was based on a comic? And Spirited Away was the first anime to be nominated and win an oscar? :roll:
