Great news on Eizouken.
I can't say that I'm going to rush to double dip on Akira, though they could advance on the Manga 4K UHD by including the original Japanese 2.0 mix. Or dig up some new extras, like Otomo's (lost?) directorial debut Give Me a Gun, Give Me Freedom.
I'm not sure what to feel about this. There's something that doesn't sit right with me about celebrating Scotland Loves Anime by expanding it to the one place south of Hadrian's Wall that has an embarrassment of cultural riches anyway. There are more Scottish cities and towns that it can tour -...
Fingers crossed for any of
Zambot 3
Brain Powerd
Combat Mecha Xabungle
0080: War in the Pocket
Angel's Egg
Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken
Hakujaden
Little Prince and the Eight Headed Dragon
and what's the hold up on a UK release of Tunnel to Summer, Exit to Goodbyes?
Got mine still in the cellophane - anyone had a chance to check out the picture / audio quality yet? While the subtitle and booklet errors are inexcusable, I wouldn't say that they're a dealbreaker in their current state - though AL should be doing better QC.
I would much much rather they did away with these sets and released these individually but I might actually buy that one - On the Waterfront, The Age of Innocence, and Little Women are all tremendous. Why the latter didn't get a UHD on initial release was baffling.
It's hilarious that Arrow have done a deal with Warner - pretty much the final boss of film catalogs - and they have licensed Clash/Wrath of the Titans and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Hopefully there's better things to come.
Silence of the Lambs is fantastic, obviously.
I seem to recall that the late Bill Olsen (of Code Red DVD, who released In the Aftermath at one point) said that the issue is that, at some point, the Japanese rightsholders lost/accidentally destroyed the paper trail concerning international rights to Angel's Egg. There's (probably) no problem...
I'll be having that. The book looks great too. I wish AL could do some prints of the original poster art as I'd love to put them on my wall.
I'm sure Criterion will upgrade their release of Godzilla at some point, but the timeline of the Minus One release won't be impacted by it.
4K UHD is a region-less format, so 'multi region' is only relevant if you wish to play Region A Blu-Ray discs (or indeed Region 1 et al DVDs) in which case you'll need to buy a modded player or custom firmware (which used to be available at regionfreedom, but that now seems to be defunct so I...
Rumour has it that it might be a while here as Legendary has exclusivity on Godzilla advertising for a period given the upcoming release of Godzilla x Kong
Honestly baffled that when I asked on this thread, gosh nearly 10 years ago now, about Patlabor that I was told it was unlikely because it would be difficult to top the existing releases. Didn't think we'd wait all these years just to get repackaged discs!
I don't personally care about dubs, but the original Japanese audio track would make me double dip....I'll work with the assumption that it isn't though
Seems a bit ridiculous that it has got to the pre-order stage and we don't have any info more specific than " featuring Japanese and English audio options " for Patlabor, since it seems like the main selling point for double dipping would be which options those will be.
The BAFTA Best Animated Film category has always been an embarrassment. If The Boy and the Heron ends up with a nomination, it will be the first time that an anime has ever been nominated.
