Errm... my anime backlog is... uhh... see, I had this Youtube channel, and folks sent stuff to me. And they were all like 'maybe you could review this?' And I was like 'yeah sure, but it'll take time.' And they were like 'that's cool, some of this stuff we don't even want anymore.'
And then...
I've been asked to write something about the PS3 game 'Haze.' So I dutifully nabbed a copy in CEX for a mere 50p.
(Just process that. I think you can still get a Mars Bar for 50p in my local greengrocer's. Ah well... at least I can use this for a coffee coaster.)
Poor, poor Eureka Seven. I don't know what it is about the series, but it seems like, since the original show, no-one can be bothered to weld quality storytelling onto it. Such a shame.
A pal popped over with his copy of the Shadow of the Colossus PS4 remaster tonight.
Is it just me, or am I missing something? I mean, this game is enjoyable, but not in the sense - to me at least - that it's worth folks going nuts over. Certainly a spectacle, but DEAR GOD it controls horribly!
For reasons I can't really properly express, something about that situation upsets me. Sidonia really is a CRACKING sci-fi show. I can't help but feel that a lot of reviews concentrated unfairly on the visuals (which actually aren't that bad, ironically - and even occasionally stunning in the...
Nice one! I'll be 'avin' some of that!
Got to say, a bit surprissed Mangamatsu went for this after their experienc with Knights of Sidonia, where (if I recall correctly) Jerome cited the fact that it had been available on Netflix as a factor that hurt sales.
But, whatever. Day one purchase for me!
OOOOHH! So tempting to get into spoilers here. But yes - the Frozen Wilds features some new machines and situations that bring out that feeling of fighting a battle that's heavily weighted, and not in your favour. I was DELIGHTED to see that it was an expansion that had all the same care and...
This news makes me happy! It seems to make sense to me that a show like Wolf's Rain would get a parallel standard edition release. I'm itching to upgrade from my old Beez DVDs to HD for that show.
It's definitely one that warrants the UE treatment, though.
Well, I went and did a rare thing (for me) recently. I decided I'd play through all of Horizon Zero Dawn again - this time, complete with the DLC.
This started off as me thinking 'I need to do something I know I'll enjoy and unwind with at thr end of the evening.' And I was sort of thinking I...
I have a MASSIVE problem with this. Not teh fact that you've said it, I hasten to add - just that it's an actual situation that fans wanting a decent HD release of SAC have to contend with.
It's 2018 for god's sake. The fact that there isn't a competently authored HD version of that show...
It's literally just Wolf's Rain out of this clutch that has my interest - although, to be honest, not in that format or at that price. I'll snap up a standard edition Blu Ray when it appears, though!
I've been VERY fortunate in my working lifetime to never have been put in a position where I've had to kow-tow to anybody. In fact, I think I've spent more time self employed than I have in employment. It tends to change your outlook on things quite a bit with regards to how people treat you...
And I don't mind dishing dirt. I did some work on site at a Vauxhall showroom some years ago for another company. The boss there was an asshole of the highest order. Something the guys I worked for had done didn't sit right with him, so he called me into the office to rant and rave about it. As...
For me, it's ALL about Exodus From the Underground Fortress. That piece has got so much energy and motion, it's unreal. There's some awesome drumming in there as well. And the harp! You'll believe a harp can rock!
I went on a mini CD spending spree just before Xmas. Discovered the band School of Seven Bells thanks to a pal of mine over on facebook, and learned that their last album in 2016 would properly be their last after their guitarist died.
It's been a bit of a revelation. At first, when I heard...
Thanks for the kind comments, guys! I'm honestly a bit taken aback at some of the comments and messages I've been getting through different arms of social media since I broke the news.
Just gonna do a quickie lightning round of responses to the last few posts:
I'm leaving everything up until...
Thanks, guys and gals! The fact that folks have enjoyed the material, quite honestly, is a much bigger reward than any sum of money I could gain for them.
In a sense, I'm actually relieved. I was slated to do voiceovers for a series of gaming reviews (as well as chipping in on game capture -...
