Licensing hell. Like most UK anime releases, as I've come to realise.

You're right. I agree. While not a terrible set, it's not remastered discs (so instant no buy from me), nor are the extras appealing besides the artbook. I hope AL doesn't have high expectations for this, as the average consumer probably wouldn't buy it due to the insane price, and because the...

I think a "movie" version is always a good option. Sure, you loose the OP/ED in each episode (well, you see each once), but it makes for a smoother experience than having to skip the ED each time and the preview, and maybe skip the OP. (I didn't like the OP for VE so it's not a big deal for me)...

Movie 1 is 75 minutes, whereas the episodes individually with OPs and EDs are 73 minutes. So, by cutting out the EDs for each episodes- instead replaced with a theatrical style scrolling credits sequence, time is saved, and because it's longer, it proves that there's new footage. What it adds, I...

The first movie is episodes 1 to 3 with new and extended scenes and LPCM 5.1 audio. The other 3 are just episodes cut together with no OP and ED but with 5.1 audio.

Here's some details (Site is in Deutsch, but as I believe you are, it should be fine) The plus side is that it visually is on-par with the JP release Comparison

I mean, Origin and Thunderbolt did, so I don't see why not.

Not to sound rude, but it was already posted, and was what caused that huge argument over it yesterday.

I guess I haven't read all of posts... don't want to become a stalker... ugh. But, I guess it'll be intriguing.

Comparison (He did the Studio Canal 4K Restoration BD) I never knew that... where did you hear or read that?

It doesn't have lossless audio, though. Otherwise, it's the same encode as Discotek's release, which Manga UK is using for their release.

I always say mp3dom, but he's Italian so it might be hard to work out, but Justin Sevakis and David Mackenzie are Americans, and are much easier to get in contact with. David told me he wants to do more anime, so let's do it! I made it easier for you @anime_andrew so here's his website. Oh...

That would be a more expensive proposition. Either they do it now without a dub and stick with it (which they're doing), or wait and see if FUNi does a dub. If FUNi dubs it, then the UK BD is incomplete. I don't watch dubs, but I know some dub only viewers, so that decision might not be the best...

I do too, but because we both share a similar opinion here and felt the need to express it, it turned into a mess. I'd go on, but I'd have to find a way that's more sane.

That's true, but with FMA, it had twice the episode count. Even if we ignore the fact they both re-use discs (Bebop- AL's BD, and FMA- FUNi's BD), the FMA one wins by value. I like the packaging, though others might not, and the episode-to-pound ratio is decent, so that's my issue. FMA did more...

Yeah, I'm curious who did Amanchu. That turned out really good except for the brightness issue and low average bitrate. There's no credit on the disc or booklet, so I'm curious. The encoder is competent enough to have massive bitrate spikes in key scenes.

If the Bebop CE was cheaper, maybe MSRP £150 or so, then there wouldn't be as much complaining about this. £300 is insane, I'm sorry. The series is around £30 for the standard edition, which is a good value, but 10x for an artbook (cool), CDs I can import from JP if I wanted, the movie (nice...

I guess. The reason I thought it was possible is that he knows Andrew, so I thought there might be a slim chance. Any re-authored discs would be nice, as really packaging and CDs are the main selling point of this release. (The Art Book is cool, though)
