Thanks. You are correct. I was referring to a now deleted Tweet from the French branch saying they didn’t get permission from the licensor to use the Yoshida artwork for the CE.
I’m not mad that it isn’t being used, nor am I upset in any way. Just wanted to see if that was deleted for breaching...
So I’m gonna email Bandai and see if you guys really weren’t given permission to use the Yoshida artwork on Maquia, if the now deleted French Tweet is true (which I doubt). I can understand choosing different art, but if that’s a lie about not being able to, then I hate to call bullsh*t, because...
For me MSG '79's Movie Trilogy's animation is more appealing than, say, most stuff by ufotable- as you can tell it was hand drawn and has gorgeous backgrounds. Not to say that Digital anime has no place- shows like JoJo and Mob Psycho utilize its strengths perfectly- but there was a charm lost...
Ordered Lupin III Part IV from Discotek today. I have a really good feeling that despite being on half the disc count, it's gonna look much better than the FR/UK version encoded by AL's French branch.

Here's 124 caps I took showing how bad Viz's transfer is. These are some highlights I picked:
I know not everyone is region free, but Manga's disc is the exact same as Discotek's American release, which itself is a 1:1 clone of the Japanese release in regards to its video transfer.
I'd buy the SE of the Movie Trilogy... if you guys ever release it in the UK.
(I'd rather use Amazon UK with the account I have and with VAT removed than have to make another account just for Amazon France.)
Plus, you know... other UK Gundam fans, too...
I was told that it was restored by some company in France as an outsource job from Anime Limited. Justin Sevakis just did video compression and authoring for the Blu-ray, so we’re dealing with some random French company being funded by AL France to “restore” Perfect Blue.
I thought so at...
I’d been hyping it up as a huge improvement, but even I have to say I’m disappointed. Sorry if I set false expectations for anyone. I had no idea about the reduced or removed grain.
