I really hate those darned book publishers - they always release the big new titles by people I like in that ruddy expensive hardback format, when all I want is a cheap paperback. I know it's a more durable item, and the author gets more royalties, and...
I think the digital copies and dvd versions are nice freebie extra - certainly shouldn't bump up the price though - many of us can't rip a bluray to make a mobile version for ipads, laptops, or we have friends and family without bluray. I dont understand this anger against them though...
Really couldn't get on with Crest of the Stars - couldn't identify with a main character collaborating with the alien oppressors.... Did wonder if there was a weird subtext and Japan and the USA post-WWII...
Re: MVM licenses Patlabor OVA BD/DVD and Linebarrels of Iron
I got the Madman release of the Patlabor OAV (didn't know!) and I assume that MVM are sharing the production costs with them. I asked Madman if they were planning to do the TV series on blu, but they said no - only the 2nd OAV series...
I actually picked up Neo and MyM (or whatever) recently and both had fairly negative reviews of Bakemonogatari in them. I was shocked as I don't really know what the show is about, but had noticed that they have a significant buzz online and in anime fandom, and was looking forward to the bluray.

Recently picked up a bunch of Aussie blurays, including the Haruhi movie... works in my PS3, so I never really understood what went wrong with the UK release - they shared the authoring with Madman...
Might hang on for the Australian Patlabor releases - naturally UK compatible. I know it's apparently the way the Sentai discs are coded, but the paranoid part of me suspects that future player purchases and their software updates could block the workaround.
I think they missed a trick in not releasing the original OAV with the movies but I agree that the 47 episode TV series might be a tough sell. I still love it though.
The third movie isn't as good as the earlier movies or the OAV, but it's nice to check in with old friends every once in a...
I think they're trying to evoke a classic Jazz vinyl sleeve - at least on the front panel, and I applaud the attempt. The US cover is a nice image from a nice anime, but downgrades the importance of the jazz. The Aus/UK cover echoes some of the classic graphic design of jazz 33's. But you're...
